Roll Dice. Shoot Zombies. Own Everything.
Don’t Die and Undead Blocks are two of the most compelling games on Avalanche right now, and they couldn’t be more different.
Avalanche has backed gaming projects with infrastructure, funding, and technical support over multiple years. That long-term commitment is starting to pay off with games that actually work and communities that stick around. Two of the most interesting projects in the space right now couldn’t be more different from each other: Don’t Die, a minimalist single-player dice roguelike launching its first competitive season, and Undead Blocks, a full-scale zombie FPS with years of community behind it and a fresh relaunch on Avalanche. One is quiet and precise. The other is loud and ambitious. Both are worth your attention.

Don’t Die: Build Your Luck, Win Real USDC
Don’t Die is a free-to-play strategic roguelike where every fight is resolved with dice. But before you write it off as a luck game, the strategy lives in how you build those dice.
Developed by Anomaly and designed by Nick Metzler, it’s built exclusively on Avalanche with zero outside investors. The mission is straightforward: prove that a single-player crypto game can be sustainable from day one.
How It Works
You start each run with 4 dice. Every time you win a battle, you earn a new Side to add to one of them, turning a 4-sided die into a 5-sided one, then a 6-sided one, and so on. With over 60 unique Sides available, each can be an attack, a shield, a buff, a poison, or something more unusual. Every fight is about building your dice strategically. You weigh power against consistency and make decisions that compound over the entire run.
The catch is that every Side you add makes that die stronger but also less predictable. Knowing when to upgrade and when to skip is at the heart of the game.
Between battles you navigate a randomly generated map with branching paths into one of three themed Biomes: La Volcano (high-damage combat and bleed effects), Ice Cave (endurance battles with strong defense), and Toxic Swamp (poison-based warfare where speed is survival). Along the way you’ll find permanent Trinkets that reshape your run, one-time Food consumables, and Bub’s Barter, a merchant who’ll take gold or, if you’re short, your own health.
Scoring rewards bold play. The Low Health Bonus gives massive points for winning a battle on 1 HP. The High Damage Bonus rewards dealing enormous damage in a single turn. The Speed Bonus rewards ending battles in as few turns as possible. Playing it safe keeps you alive. Playing boldly climbs the leaderboard.
The Economy: Honest by Design
The game has a free Practice mode open to everyone. To compete for real prizes, players enter Tournament mode by purchasing an NFT run at $1, $10, or $100. All three tiers play the exact same game. The higher price is simply a way to play for bigger rewards in less time. No pay-to-win.
80% of every USDC spent on entries goes directly into the seasonal prize pool. The remaining 20% covers operations. That’s the entire model. Prizes are paid in USDC, so market volatility doesn’t affect your winnings. What you earn is stable and predictable.
Season 1 kicks off February 23rd with a starting pool of $5,000 USDC that grows with every new entry, and prizes are distributed on March 9th. There are 4 checkpoints across 2 chapters. Reach one alive and you’re in the running. Top performers on each checkpoint’s leaderboard get guaranteed payouts. The remaining prize pool is distributed randomly among the rest, with your score determining your odds. There’s also an Ultimate Prize worth 5% of the total seasonal pool, reserved for the player who reaches the final checkpoint with the highest score.
Stickers add another layer: each cosmetic item carries Loot Points that increase your Loot Multiple, up to a maximum of 10x your original entry price. Time Crystals let you rewind bad luck at critical moments.

Undead Blocks: A Zombie Shooter With Real Ownership
If Don’t Die is precise and minimalist, Undead Blocks is a first-person zombie shooter available on PC with weapon ownership mechanics and an active community since 2022.
Built by Wagyu Games and now fully relaunched on Avalanche, Undead Blocks holds the distinction of being the 2022 Web3 Game of the Year. After a transition period that saw Wagyu Games acquire full ownership from the original developers in May 2024, the game has relaunched with an updated roadmap, additional maps and weapons.
Survive the Horde, Own Your Arsenal
Undead Blocks is a wave-based zombie survival FPS available on PC. Players drop in with a weapon and a combat knife and fight to survive increasingly intense waves of enemies. Every kill earns XP, and headshots earn bonus XP. The game features multiple modes including Solo, Squads, Speedrun, and Massacre, each offering a different challenge.
What sets it apart from traditional shooters is asset ownership. Weapon Loadout NFTs determine which weapons you can bring into battle and evolve as you upgrade them. The NFT metadata updates to reflect enhanced stats as you upgrade your weapons.
Two Currencies, One Ecosystem
The in-game economy runs on a dual-currency system.
Standard ZBUX is earned by all players through daily gameplay, completing challenges, and surviving waves. It can be used to upgrade Weapon Loadouts, acquire new weapons, and trade for Loot Coffins that contain valuable items and skins.
Gold ZBUX is the premium currency, pegged at $0.10, earned through VIP game modes, weekly challenges, and tournaments. It can be cashed out for cryptocurrency or used to unlock exclusive weapons, character skins, and limited-edition upgrades.
The $UNDEAD token serves as the governance layer. Holders vote on tournament structures, game modes, and development priorities. It’s also used for weapon upgrades, Battle Pass purchases, and the upcoming Stake-to-Mint platform.
The Arms Dealer Program
The Arms Dealer Program lets NFT holders lease their Weapon Loadouts to other players in exchange for a share of their earnings. It’s a passive income mechanism built directly into the game. Holders who don’t want to play actively can still participate in the economy by putting their assets to work.
What’s Coming
The roadmap includes new maps (including the Mall expansion and the Graveyard map), sponsored VIP tournaments, a full mobile version in early 2026, a Battle Pass system, and a Wagyu Games NFT Marketplace with a dedicated rental platform. The game’s skin collection, originally on Immutable, is also migrating fully to Avalanche.

Two Games, One Ecosystem
Don’t Die and Undead Blocks represent two distinct but complementary visions of what Web3 gaming can look like on Avalanche.
One is a tightly designed single-player experience built to prove that skill-based crypto games can work sustainably from day one. The other is a battle-tested multiplayer shooter with years of community behind it, relaunching with an expanded feature set.
Both are free to play. Both put real ownership in players’ hands. And both are building on Avalanche for the same reason: performance, scalability, and an ecosystem that’s serious about gaming.

The contrast between these two games is such a good framing, Don't Die looks deceptivly deep for a dice roguelike. That mechanic where adding sides makes the die more powerfull but less predictable is genuinely clever design. Undead Blocks having an Arms Dealer Program for NFT holders is also smart, keeps asset holders engaged even when they aren't actively playing.
