Helping Others Build: The Leadership Model Behind Team1 Nigeria
Team1 Nigeria has become one of Avalanche’s fastest-growing regions. From events to builders, here’s how they’re turning local energy into lasting impact.
There’s a different kind of momentum building in Nigeria.
You see it when an event ends and no one’s in a rush to leave. It comes from creators, organizers, and early builders laying down something lasting. That’s what Team1 Nigeria is doing.
To understand what that looks like on the ground, we sat down with Feezy, the region lead for Team1 Nigeria. Listen to the full interview here:
Team1 is Avalanche’s global community program. We’re made up of creators, educators, builders, and community organizers who bring Avalanche to life in their local ecosystems. In Nigeria, that work spans all four regions of the country and takes many different forms.
Team1 Nigeria started small but grew quickly. Since the spring of 2024, the region has more than tripled. That growth happened through one-on-one conversations, intentional recruiting, and a strong focus on vision and alignment. People joined because they were interested in crypto and believed in what Team1 is trying to build.
“We weren’t just trying to get numbers. We were trying to build a foundation.”
The results speak for themselves. Team1 Nigeria has hosted educational sessions, gaming events, and social gatherings that bring people together and make them want to return. They’ve collaborated with other projects and ecosystems to widen their reach. The feedback from attendees is consistent: these events are worth attending.
But it’s not just about physical events. Nigeria is also home to one of the strongest content engines in Team1. Cynthia, one of our writers for the Team1 blog, came out of this group. Feezy himself hosts a bi-weekly podcast called Inside the Hive, where he interviews founders, creators, and Avalanche builders. All of this creates a culture of participation that feeds the growth loop.
During my conversation with Feezy, he shared that he sees his role as more than event planning. He’s helping build a team. That means budgeting, mentoring, recruiting, and ensuring everyone has what they need to succeed. He credits early guidance from Team1 leadership with shaping how he approaches his role, and now he’s doing the same for others.
Like many of us, Feezy’s journey started during the 2020 lockdowns. After his brother introduced him to cryptocurrency, he started learning, experimenting, and eventually diving deeper. His podcast work at the university laid the foundation for what he does now. What drew him to Avalanche was the community.
“It’s more than just people trading. It feels like a family. That’s what drew me in, and that’s what’s kept me here.”
His vision now is focused on sustainability. Not just growing Team1 Nigeria, but helping it evolve into a platform for builders, creators, and founders across Africa. It’s about turning local momentum into real-world impact. Getting people to events is great. Helping them build with Avalanche tech to solve regional problems is even better.
“When we do that, we haven’t just made Avalanche more popular. We’ve actually won something.”
If you’re in Nigeria and looking for a place to get involved, this team is worth checking out. If you’re somewhere else in the world and thinking about how to activate your own region, Team1 Nigeria is a model worth learning from. Check out our Luma page to find a Team1 event near you.
