Forgotten Playland: The Web3 Adventure Reviving Childhood Dreams
A nostalgic party game built on Avalanche’s Beam network, Forgotten Playland blends chaotic fun with on-chain customization and a growing $FP-powered economy.
Forgotten Playland, a series of whimsical party games created by Vermilion Studios, is swinging into the Web3 spotlight with a nostalgic twist. Launched in July 2024, this title has already gathered the eyes of gamers across Web2 and Web3. More than just a trip down memory lane, Forgotten Playland fuses playful game modes with an active digital economy, creating a new twist on party games.
Powered by Avalanche and built on the Beam network, Forgotten Playland has built a thriving community across the ecosystem. Let’s hop into this sandbox and uncover what makes Forgotten Playland a joyful gem in the Web3 gaming realm.
The Game
Forgotten Playland takes place in an attic where plush toys roam around and face each other in a multitude of competitions against each other. The game currently has a plethora of party games that garner different types of skills:
BalanceBeam Bonanza: In a game of precision, players move forward on a narrow course, trying not to fall off while competing to reach the finish line first.
Battle Bounce: Players hop on a shrinking arena on pogo sticks while attempting to knock each other off the map.
Balloon Burst: Players launch their plush toys out of a cannon and pop balloons as they navigate through the air.
Beat Bop: In classic guitar hero format, players compete against each other to match the beat by matching incoming arrow keys.
BoomKyn Battle: Players strategically place bombs to destroy obstacles and kill their opponents.
Bump-A-Ball: Players roll around on bouncy balls and bump into each other to attempt to knock each other off a breaking wooden platform.
Busy Board: Players roll around a board and avoid an alerted square that kills a player standing on it.
Fowl Fetch: Players pick up their designated color chickens and deliver them to their zone. The first person to collect 5 chickens wins.
Half-Can Holdback: This game mode requires button mashing and holding up a can filling up with water to prevent getting squished.
Hopping Hurdles: Players hop on pogo sticks as they navigate obstacles to reach the finish line.
Jungle Rumble: Players hit each other with sticks on a moving platform with oncoming obstacles and try to survive.
Rolling Rally: Players race against each other in a high-speed course to cross the finish line first.
Secret Stroll: Players have to try and walk through an invisible path and get to the other side.
Shuffle Square: In this quick-thinking memory game, players have to memorize the shapes displayed on the map and stand on the square before the timer runs out.
Snuggle Standstill: In classic red-light-green-light fashion, players have to freeze in place when a magical chest opens in front of them and move forward when it’s closed.
Splash Step: Players have to memorize color patterns and hop on the floating pad with the same colors in the correct order in a given time frame.
Star Shooter: Players man cannons to shoot stars floating across the screens.
Target Tumble: Players shoot themselves out of cannons to hit tin cans and collect points.
Tentacle Tap: Similar to whack-a-mole, players run around a platform and hit as many tentacles as possible as they pop out.
Treasure Twirl: Players bounce around a ring and collect coins while knocking coins off of their competitors.
Upcoming Games: Vermillion Studios has hinted at many more upcoming games over the next few months. Although there isn’t discrete information on what they will be, the team provided an image for players to speculate.
Web3 Integration
Forgotten Playland, building on Beam network is integrating $FP token utility and character customization fully on blockchain!
$FP Token: The game’s playful currency, $FP, powers trading in the game’s marketplace, purchasing battle tickets for tournaments, and purchasing the battle pass.
Toy NFTs: Every customization item in the game is an NFT. Players will be able to purchase customization limbs, outfits, and characters using $FP in the future.
