Every time two institutions trade digital assets, there is a step that happens after. One party has to send funds. The other has to receive them. Accounts have to reconcile. And until that process finishes, both sides are sitting with risk they cannot fully see or control.

That process is called settlement. And for a long time, there was no clean, regulated, real-time way to do it in the digital asset market.

The networks that existed for that purpose inside traditional banking either collapsed or were shut down. What replaced them was mostly silence.

Lynq Network was built into that silence. Here’s a closer look at what Lynq Network is and why it matters.

The Company That Made It Possible First

Before we talk about Lynq, we need to talk about Tassat.

Tassat is a company that builds blockchain payment systems for regulated financial institutions. Most people outside of traditional finance have never heard of them. But their track record is one of the more significant in the space.

Tassat built the payment infrastructure that powered Signature Bank’s Signet network, one of the first always-on, real-time dollar settlement systems built specifically for the digital asset market. Before Signature Bank collapsed in 2023, Signet had processed over $2 trillion in transactions. Tassat also built TassatPay, which multiple U.S. banks used for real-time tokenized payments.

More than 650 institutional clients had already connected to the Tassat API before Lynq launched, including firms that came in through earlier Signature Bank or Customers Bank deployments. That same operational history is what Lynq was built on top of, rebuilt for the digital asset market, and eventually moved onto a public blockchain.

About Lynq Network

Three companies built Lynq together: Tassat, which handles the blockchain layer; Arca Labs, the innovation arm of a digital assets investment management firm; and tZERO, a regulated broker-dealer. Development took roughly 18 months and included direct input from the institutions that would eventually use the platform.

The platform is operated by tZERO Securities, LLC, which is registered with the SEC as a broker-dealer. Digital asset custody is handled by tZERO Digital Asset Securities, one of only two SEC-registered special-purpose broker-dealers in the United States.

Every participant on the network undergoes KYC and AML verification before accessing any assets, and these assets are held in segregated accounts, meaning each client’s funds are separate rather than pooled. Proof of reserves for the network is publicly visible on Snowtrace, Avalanche’s blockchain explorer, at any time.

Lynq officially launched on July 16, 2025, completing its first on-chain transaction and its first peer-to-peer transfer on the network. From there, adoption built steadily. Fireblocks integrated, Crypto.com completed its integration in January 2026, and Aquanow, DV Chain, GSR, Nonco, and Wintermute became the first to post off-exchange collateral that same month.

Assets on the platform surpassed $89 million in February 2026, with more than 30 institutional partners onboarded by that point, and EDX Markets joined as a second exchange partner.

The network also launched Collateral Lock, upgraded to a dedicated Avalanche L1 in April 2026, grew TFND assets to $90 million, distributed over $235,000 in interest, and was named a founding member of the Avalanche Payments Collective, cementing its role in advancing institutional payments and settlement on Avalanche.

This part is easy to skim past if you are not already familiar with how Avalanche is built, so it is worth slowing down on.

Stage one, July 2025: Lynq launches on Avalanche’s C-Chain
The C-Chain is Avalanche’s main public chain. It is shared by many different projects at once, all secured by the same broad set of validators. When Lynq launched, its first transaction and the TFND fund shares were recorded directly on this shared, public chain.

Stage two, April 2026: Lynq moves to its own dedicated Avalanche L1
An L1 on Avalanche is a separate, standalone chain that is still part of the wider Avalanche network but is not shared with unrelated projects. Tassat chose to run Lynq on one of these dedicated chains instead, which means Tassat decides who validates transactions on it, how it is configured, and who can see what data on it.

The chain still connects back to the public C-Chain, so assets issued elsewhere on Avalanche can still interact with Lynq, but the settlement activity itself now runs on infrastructure built specifically for Lynq’s clients.

Why go through the trouble of migrating instead of just staying on the C-Chain?

Regulated institutions need predictable performance and control over who can access their data before they will use something at real scale. A dedicated L1 gives Tassat that control directly, while a shared public chain does not. Tassat has described the move as being completed with full state continuity, meaning existing client positions and integrations carried over without disruption.

Standout Features

1) Yield-in-Transit

This is what Lynq is probably best known for inside the institutional space. Tassat holds a U.S. patent for it.

When funds sit in a settlement account waiting for a transaction to clear, they normally earn nothing. With Lynq, however, interest accrues every two seconds, at the block level, even while funds are in motion. That is money that would otherwise sit idle, now earning while the settlement is still happening.

2) Collateral Lock

Added in March 2026, this feature lets a participant lock assets as collateral for a counterparty directly on the platform. Those assets stay locked, continue earning interest, and get released when the off-platform action is done. No third-party escrow. No moving capital across multiple accounts and venues just to post a margin requirement.

3) SOC II Compliance and On-chain Transparency

Lynq runs on SOC II-certified technology, a recognized compliance standard requiring independent audits of data security and availability. For institutional clients, this is a standard internal requirement before any platform gets cleared for use. All proof of reserves is on-chain and verifiable by anyone at any time.

Who Can Use Lynq?

Lynq is built for institutional participants, not individual retail users. Its target users include market makers, OTC desks, proprietary trading firms, exchanges, and custodians. Some of the institutions using the network include B2C2, FalconX, Galaxy, Wintermute, Crypto.com, Fireblocks, and EDX Markets.

Onboarding starts with an application through the Lynq website, followed by KYC and AML verification through tZERO, funding a brokerage account, and then settling transactions in real time while earning yield through TFND. Firms that previously connected to Tassat through Signature Bank or Customers Bank can recertify their existing API connection rather than starting over.

Lynq’s Role in the Avalanche Payments Collective

In June 2026, Lynq became a founding member of the Avalanche Payments Collective, a group of 28 organizations building payment infrastructure on Avalanche. The Collective brings together companies across settlement, stablecoins, custody, cross-border payments, and treasury management to support faster and more efficient global payments.

Within that group, Lynq serves as an institutional settlement layer, connecting more than 30 institutional participants and supporting over $2.5 trillion in transaction volume. Collectively, members of the Avalanche Payments Collective support payment flows across 150+ countries, 96 currencies, and approximately 22 billion payout endpoints.

Commenting on the announcement, Lynq CEO Jerald David said the company chose Avalanche because it provides the global reach and institutional-grade reliability needed to power the future of payments.

Final Thoughts

Lynq was built with Avalanche from the beginning. Ava Labs was named a consortium partner months before the platform launched, and the network’s TFND fund combines Avalanche’s public C-Chain with its Layer 1 to support regulated, interest-bearing settlement.

Less than a year after launch, Lynq has grown to $90 million in assets and become a founding member of the Avalanche Payments Collective alongside Franklin Templeton, VanEck, and 25 other organizations.

The network has grown quickly since launch, and its reported metrics will be worth watching over the coming quarters.

On July 15, 2026, Aave rolled out its V4 lending protocol on Avalanche, marking the first deployment of its redesigned architecture outside Ethereum. The move follows V4’s Ethereum debut in March and signals Aave’s plan to expand chain by chain, tailoring each deployment to ecosystems where it already has traction rather than replicating the same setup everywhere.

For Avalanche, being chosen as the first expansion beyond Ethereum reflects the network’s combination of an established Aave lending market and a fast-growing ecosystem for tokenized real-world assets such as Treasuries and corporate bonds.

What Is Aave?

Aave is one of the largest decentralized lending platforms in crypto. Unlike a bank, it isn’t run by a company holding your money and approving loans behind closed doors. It runs on smart contracts, self-executing code on a blockchain, that let people lend crypto to earn interest or borrow against crypto they own, without a middleman.

Aave has facilitated more than $1 trillion in cumulative loan volume since launching, making it one of the most established lending protocols in decentralized finance.

From Monolithic Pools to Hub and Spoke

The biggest change in V4 is architectural.

Previous versions relied on a single shared pool of funds per network. That was efficient, but it also concentrated risk: a problem with one asset could affect the whole pool.

V4 introduces a Hub and Spoke model. The Hub works like a central vault, holding reserves and managing liquidity across the network. Spokes work like individual branches, each with its own collateral rules, risk settings, and liquidation parameters, while drawing on liquidity from the Hub through controlled credit lines.

Different markets can share liquidity while the impact of problems in any single Spoke stays contained. That structure supports ordinary crypto lending, liquid staking, stablecoin markets, and eventually tokenized real-world assets, all on the same underlying capital.

Why Avalanche?

Aave first launched on Avalanche in 2021 via V2 during the Avalanche Rush incentive program, before Avalanche became one of the early networks to support Aave V3 in 2022. Since then, Aave has processed more than $15 billion in all-time cumulative inflows across V2 and V3 deployments on Avalanche. Today, the V3 market supports 18 assets, with stablecoin utilization running above 90%.

That track record made Avalanche a natural candidate for V4’s debut beyond Ethereum. Avalanche has also spent the past few years positioning itself around institutional finance, tokenized assets, stablecoins, and enterprise blockchain use, a direction that aligns with V4’s modular design as lending extends beyond crypto-native assets.

What Launched on Avalanche

The deployment includes one Core Liquidity Hub connected to three markets:

• Main market: General-purpose lending and borrowing, expected to hold most of the deployment’s liquidity.

• AVAX Correlated market: Built for liquid staking. Users can supply sAVAX, a token representing staked AVAX, at a 95% collateral factor and borrow wAVAX exclusively.

• Forex market: Stablecoin strategies involving EURC, USDC, and USDT, with conservative caps on EURC given its thinner liquidity.

As with Ethereum’s V4 launch, risk limits start conservatively and can expand as usage grows.

The Bigger Opportunity: Tokenized Assets

The feature Aave has promoted most isn’t live yet: a dedicated market for borrowing against tokenized Treasuries, money market funds, private credit, and corporate bonds.

Founder Stani Kulechov described Avalanche as a natural fit given its established lending market and growing tokenized asset ecosystem. Ava Labs President John Wu made a similar point: institutions adopting tokenized assets will need infrastructure that allows those assets to become more useful, not simply remain held onchain.

The network has already attracted tokenization efforts spanning industrial assets, Japanese financial products, and tokenized cash funds. The next challenge is making these assets more productive once they are onchain. Aave’s planned RWA market could provide lending infrastructure that allows tokenized assets to eventually be used as collateral, giving them access to Avalanche’s liquidity while maintaining separate risk parameters through the Hub and Spoke design.

Incentives Built for the Long Term

Avalanche has committed up to $15 million in incentives tied to milestones like total value locked, borrowing volume, and protocol revenue, rather than unconditional rewards.

Earlier DeFi incentive programs often saw users deposit funds temporarily to farm rewards before leaving once emissions slowed. Milestone-based incentives are structured to align rewards with sustained usage instead.

New Mechanics Under the Hood

V4 also changes how lending itself works.

Borrowing costs now include a dynamic risk premium, meaning safer collateral receives better borrowing terms while riskier assets carry higher rates.

Liquidations are also more adaptive. Instead of a fixed penalty, the incentive scales up as a position deteriorates, easing pressure on borrowers early while still prompting timely action from liquidators.

A More Competitive Landscape

The AVAX Correlated market puts Aave in direct competition with BENQI, which has built a strong position around Avalanche lending and liquid staking, particularly in the sAVAX ecosystem.

The added competition deepens liquidity and widens the options available to Avalanche users.

The Bigger Picture

Aave treats Avalanche as a template for future V4 expansions, not a one-off. For Avalanche, the network has spent years building toward institutional finance and tokenized assets, and V4 adds the credit layer those markets will eventually require.

The RWA market has not launched yet, so this deployment mostly proves the architecture rather than the final use case.

By making Avalanche the first network outside Ethereum to run V4, Aave is signaling where it expects the next generation of onchain lending to grow. If tokenized assets become a meaningful part of global finance, this launch may be remembered for the foundation it laid on Avalanche as much as for what shipped on day one.

Avalanche is entering a different kind of growth phase.

The latest Nansen snapshot, covering June 12 to July 12, shows 87.8 million monthly transactions, 1.7 million active addresses and transaction costs that remain close to negligible. At the same time, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund reached $902.7 million on Avalanche, sAVAX continued accumulating within the BENQI staking system, and the economics of launching dedicated Avalanche L1s became significantly more accessible following Avalanche9000.

This is not primarily a retail-driven expansion built around memecoins, speculative trading or rapidly rising DEX activity. In fact, decentralized exchange volume remains one of the weaker areas of the current dataset. The stronger signals are appearing elsewhere: regulated tokenized assets, stablecoin positioning, liquid staking participation, lower infrastructure costs and specialized networks designed for specific financial or consumer markets.

That distinction matters because Avalanche is not simply processing more transactions. It is becoming infrastructure for larger, more specialized and more capital-intensive use cases. At one end, BlackRock’s BUIDL fund demonstrates the network’s ability to support institutional capital and tokenized financial products. At the other, FIFA Blockchain demonstrates how the same underlying architecture can support consumer experiences for a global audience.

The emerging Avalanche thesis is therefore broader than growth in a single metric. It is the development of an onchain infrastructure layer capable of supporting both regulated financial markets and mass-consumer applications.

Network adoption is broadening

Avalanche added approximately 707,000 new C-Chain addresses during Q2 2026, compared with 118,000 during Q1. That represents nearly six times as many new addresses quarter over quarter. The latest monthly snapshot also shows 1.7 million active addresses and an estimated 87.8 million transactions across the network.

These figures suggest that Avalanche is reaching more users while preserving the low-cost environment required for payments, gaming, consumer applications and other forms of high-frequency onchain activity. According to the report, the median transaction fee is now close to $0.00001, following an estimated 96 percent reduction after recent network upgrades.

Low fees don’t automatically create adoption, but high fees guarantee failure for mainstream apps. When infrastructure gets this cheap and invisible, developers can focus on building actual products without forcing users to worry about gas markets.

The address data should still be interpreted carefully. A newly created wallet is not necessarily a retained user, and rising activity can include automated addresses, incentive-driven behavior or one-time interactions. The stronger confirmation will come from cohort retention: whether new addresses continue transacting, use multiple applications and move between C-Chain and Avalanche L1s over time.

Even with that limitation, the direction remains constructive. Avalanche is onboarding significantly more addresses without sacrificing the low-cost environment required for consumer-scale activity.

BUIDL has become the clearest institutional signal

The strongest institutional development in the current dataset is the growth of BlackRock’s BUIDL fund on Avalanche.

Nansen tracked $902.7 million of BUIDL on the network as of July 12. The balance more than doubled during the preceding week after a new holder received $500 million on July 10.

This was not a gradual increase distributed across thousands of users. It was a concentrated institutional deployment. The new address alone represented roughly 55 percent of the BUIDL balance tracked on Avalanche, while the asset recorded only seven holders and three active addresses during the measured period.

That concentration needs to be acknowledged because it changes how the number should be interpreted. BUIDL’s growth does not yet represent broad distribution or widespread retail demand. It represents the arrival of a small number of large institutional positions.

However, concentration does not make the deployment insignificant. It demonstrates that Avalanche can support the issuance, transfer and maintenance of a regulated tokenized fund at a scale approaching $1 billion. For institutional infrastructure, the number of holders may initially matter less than the value being settled, the reliability of the network and the ability to meet the operational requirements of regulated financial products.

The most important conclusion is therefore not that BUIDL has already achieved broad adoption. It is that meaningful institutional capital can operate on Avalanche infrastructure.

That places the network in a different competitive category. Avalanche is no longer competing only for crypto-native traders, gaming applications and DeFi liquidity. It is increasingly competing to become infrastructure for tokenized funds, regulated securities, treasury products and other forms of onchain financial settlement.

The capital-flow picture remains selective

The broader capital-flow data is more measured and prevents the institutional thesis from becoming overly bullish.

WAVAX recorded $3.1 million in exchange inflows over seven days, but this was only 0.7 times its normal level. Fresh wallets added $378,900, while Top PnL wallets added another $44,900. Some WAVAX moved toward exchanges, but the amount remained below average and there was no clear evidence of aggressive whale distribution or strong accumulation.

USDC showed a much larger positioning change. Exchange wallets received $70.8 million over seven days, around 2.6 times the average level, while Top PnL wallets added approximately $5.2 million.

This does not prove that the capital will eventually move into AVAX or Avalanche-based applications. Stablecoins can be positioned for several reasons, including trading, market making, treasury management, collateral deployment or liquidity provision. The eventual destination of those funds still needs to be monitored.

The current expansion thesis is therefore not based on immediate AVAX buying pressure or a broad speculative rotation into the ecosystem. It is based on institutional asset growth, increasing address creation, productive staking demand and improving infrastructure economics.

That is a slower and less visible form of expansion, but potentially a more durable one.

sAVAX reflects productive participation

Liquid staking remains one of the clearest signs of committed participation within Avalanche.

The BENQI sAVAX token contract added 775,800 sAVAX over 30 days, including 238,700 during the most recent week. Fresh wallets added $412,300 of sAVAX over seven days, around 2.8 times the normal level.

At the same time, the Aave-related sAVAX pool declined by almost 451,800 sAVAX over 30 days.

Together, these movements suggest two different behaviors. Demand for liquid staking remains active, while some leveraged or lending-based exposure involving sAVAX is being reduced. Users appear willing to maintain productive exposure to AVAX even as parts of the DeFi leverage layer unwind.

This distinction is important. Purely speculative demand often disappears when incentives decline or market conditions weaken. Liquid staking is more closely connected to the underlying network because it combines validator participation with onchain liquidity. Holders can contribute to network security while retaining the ability to use their capital across lending markets, liquidity pools and other applications.

The movement into sAVAX does not guarantee long-term conviction, but it represents a more productive form of participation than idle token holding or short-term trading activity.

BTC.b remains meaningful, although flows are mixed

BTC.b continues to extend Avalanche’s capital base beyond native AVAX liquidity.

The latest snapshot shows 30,809 BTC.b holders, a market capitalization of $179.8 million and $43.6 million in seven-day volume. Exchange wallets recorded $1.5 million in outflows, which can be consistent with self-custody or deployment into DeFi.

However, Top PnL wallets reduced BTC.b exposure by approximately $5 million over the same period.

The signal is therefore mixed rather than uniformly bullish. Some Bitcoin liquidity is leaving exchanges, while profitable wallets appear to be reducing exposure. Nevertheless, the size of the holder base and the level of trading activity indicate that BTC.b remains an active component of Avalanche DeFi.

Its strategic importance extends beyond the token itself. BTC.b allows Bitcoin capital to participate in lending, liquidity provision and other onchain financial activity without requiring users to rely exclusively on native AVAX liquidity. A broader capital base can make Avalanche applications more useful and reduce the ecosystem’s dependence on a single asset.

The challenge is turning that liquidity into sustained productive activity rather than temporary movement between exchanges, wallets and incentive-driven markets.

Avalanche9000 changed the economics of expansion

Avalanche9000 materially changed the cost structure of launching and operating a dedicated Avalanche L1.

According to the report, L1 deployment costs declined by approximately 99.9 percent, while C-Chain fees fell by roughly 96 percent. The previous requirement for every L1 validator to stake 2,000 AVAX was also removed, significantly lowering the operational barrier for teams building specialized networks.

These changes expand the range of organizations that can realistically operate their own execution environments. Financial institutions, gaming studios, marketplaces, payment providers and regulated applications can design networks around specific technical, commercial or compliance requirements without forcing every use case onto a single general-purpose chain.

Projects such as Dexalot, DeFi Kingdoms, GUNZ and Henesys illustrate how Avalanche L1s can be configured around very different markets. Some prioritize gaming and consumer activity. Others focus on financial infrastructure, trading or application-specific execution.

Lower costs, however, should not be confused with automatic success. Making L1 deployment easier may increase experimentation, but it may also produce networks with limited users, weak economic activity or insufficient long-term demand.

The next meaningful metric is therefore not simply the number of Avalanche L1s launched. It is how many retain users, attract developers, generate recurring transactions and build sustainable business models.

Avalanche9000 reduced the cost of entry. The ecosystem must now prove that lower entry costs can translate into durable network activity.

BlackRock and FIFA reveal the two directions of the Avalanche thesis

The clearest way to understand Avalanche’s current expansion is to examine two deployments serving fundamentally different audiences.

BlackRock’s BUIDL fund represents the institutional direction. It demonstrates that Avalanche can support regulated financial products, tokenized assets and large capital deployments approaching $1 billion.

FIFA Blockchain represents the mass-consumer direction.

Built as a dedicated, EVM-compatible Avalanche L1, FIFA Blockchain supports FIFA Collect, digital ownership and emerging fan experiences. More than 85,000 addresses were reportedly created following its launch, providing an early indication of how a globally recognized organization can onboard users into an onchain environment without making blockchain the central part of the experience.

The difference between these two adoption paths is important.

Institutional adoption is likely to arrive through settlement, tokenized funds, securities, treasury products and regulated financial infrastructure. Consumers are more likely to arrive through products they already understand: entertainment, access, identity, loyalty, collectibles and ownership.

The 2026 World Cup provides a practical example of the consumer model. FIFA Collect’s Right to Buy and Right to Ticket assets connect verifiable digital ownership with access to official match tickets. Users are not being asked to adopt blockchain as an ideology or learn how network infrastructure operates. They are interacting with a recognizable product connected to one of the world’s largest sporting events.

This is where FIFA fits within the wider Nansen analysis.

The increase in active addresses and the reduction in transaction costs show that Avalanche is becoming technically capable of supporting broader consumer activity. FIFA provides a real-world example of what that direction could look like. BlackRock, meanwhile, shows how the same underlying infrastructure can serve the opposite end of the market: concentrated institutional capital operating through regulated tokenized assets.

BlackRock brings financial institutions onchain, while FIFA puts blockchain beneath everyday consumer products. Together, they prove the Avalanche L1 model can support both capital-heavy markets and mass-market applications.

That may become Avalanche’s most important competitive advantage.

Expansion remains real, but uneven

The cleanest verdict is infrastructure-led expansion with institutional momentum and uneven onchain breadth.

BUIDL has grown to approximately $902.7 million on Avalanche. New C-Chain address creation accelerated sharply during Q2. Liquid staking demand remains visible through sAVAX. Transaction costs remain extremely low, while Avalanche9000 has made specialized network deployment materially more accessible.

FIFA Blockchain also demonstrates that Avalanche’s infrastructure thesis is not limited to institutional finance. The same architecture can support global consumer products in which blockchain operates beneath the experience rather than becoming the experience itself.

At the same time, the weaknesses in the dataset should not be ignored.

A single address accounts for roughly $500 million of the BUIDL balance. DEX volume has declined substantially. WAVAX flows are neutral rather than strongly accumulative. Smart Money and whale activity remain limited, while Top PnL wallets reduced their BTC.b exposure.

This means Avalanche has not yet converted its infrastructure progress into uniformly strong activity across every part of the ecosystem. Institutional assets are growing, but holder distribution remains concentrated. Address creation is accelerating, but retention still needs to be demonstrated. L1 economics have improved, but individual networks must prove that they can generate lasting demand.

These are not reasons to dismiss the expansion. They define its next stage.

Avalanche has shown that it can attract large institutional deployments, support productive staking, reduce the cost of launching specialized networks and provide infrastructure for global consumer brands. The challenge now is converting those foundations into retained users, deeper liquidity, active applications and recurring economic activity across the wider ecosystem.

The network is moving beyond a consolidation story, but it is not yet experiencing expansion everywhere at once.

Its progress is being led by infrastructure first: tokenized assets, specialized networks, low-cost execution and productive capital. Broader market activity may follow, but it has not fully arrived yet.

That is what makes the current phase significant.

Avalanche is not relying on speculation to manufacture the appearance of growth. It is building the infrastructure that could support the next generation of tokenized markets and consumer-scale onchain applications.

Identity tells an agent who a counterparty is. Reputation tells it whether to trust them. But the event that actually closes the loop is payment, and once agents pay each other hundreds of times an hour, the chain underneath stops being a detail.

Months ago I pointed an autonomous browser agent at Snowtrace.io to take a tedious data-collection job off my hands. It worked through the pages with a strange patience, clicking buttons and reading tooltips, slow but steady, until it froze on a dropdown menu and failed the task one step from the finish line.

So I asked our front-end team at Routescan for a small, non-invasive change to the interface the agent kept tripping over. They shipped the fix the next day. I reran the task, the agent cleared the dropdown, and it handed me the files I needed. A few days later it hit me what we had actually done: that commit was the first change we had ever shipped on Snowtrace for a machine instead of a human. I had spent months with our UX team on microcopy and user journeys, and almost without noticing we wrote our first iteration for machine experience instead of user experience.

That is a small story about a dropdown. It is also the leading edge of a larger reordering, and the part that gets the least attention is money.

The Piece Everyone Skips

Two recent Team1 blog posts map this territory well.

Chris Fusillo of XKOVA framed ERC-8004 as a trust layer - focusing on identity, reputation, and validation to answer whether to trust an agent.

Meanwhile, Giacomo Barbieri (Jack) made the concept concrete by deploying an identity for his agent, Eva, on the C-Chain and pricing tasks in AVAX, answering who an agent is and what its track record says.

Identity and reputation are the discovery half of the problem. They tell an agent which counterparty to pick. But picking is not transacting. Between “I trust this agent” and “the work is done and paid for” sits a settlement event, and that event is the one that has quietly broken the open web for thirty years.

HTTP has had a status code for it since 1997. 402 Payment Required has sat unused the entire time, because there was never a settlement layer cheap and fast enough to invoke it. Card networks have fixed fees that make sub-dollar payments absurd. PayPal and its cousins demand accounts and KYC. First-generation blockchains had fees too high and throughput too low to settle anything granular. So the web aggregated instead: monthly subscriptions, bundles, paywalls. We pay for the month because nobody could bill us for the minute. That is a workaround for a settlement problem, not a design anyone loved.

Agents do not tolerate the workaround, because they do not transact like us.

Why Avalanche Fits Agentic Payments

1. The fee math only works at the floor

A human signs maybe one payment a day. An agent composing a pipeline (query five data sources, screen twelve documents, buy the three worth reading, run an inference, validate the output) signs hundreds of micro-payments an hour, each worth fractions of a cent, each needing to clear before the next step runs. Jack’s pricing makes this concrete: tasks at 0.005 to 0.025 AVAX only make sense if moving that money costs well below the value of the task. Sub-second finality and a low fee floor are not nice-to-haves here. Cheap repeated writes are the product.

2. x402 turns the request itself into the payment

Every web request already carries a status code, one of those quiet numbers the browser reads and you never see. 200 means “here you go.” 404 means “not found.” Back in 1997 the people who wrote the web reserved one more, 402 Payment Required, for a day when a request could pay for itself. That day never came, so the code sat unused for decades.

x402 is that code finally switched on. The flow is simple: an agent asks a service for something, the service answers 402 with a price attached, the agent re-sends the request with a payment authorization, and the service verifies it and delivers. No account, no checkout, no card on file. The request and the payment are the same motion. None of it works, though, without a chain that can settle those tiny amounts for fractions of a cent in milliseconds, which is exactly the load profile Avalanche is built to absorb.

3. The protocols stack instead of competing

It helps to keep the layers separate, because they get conflated constantly. MCP and A2A are how agents talk: capability description, task coordination, skill advertisement. ERC-8004 is how they discover and trust. x402 is how they settle. An agent’s ERC-8004 registration file can list its MCP endpoint, its A2A address, and the wallet that receives its x402 payments, all pointing at one portable identity. Stack them and you get the full machine-experience pipeline: discover a counterparty, read its terms, pay per request, receive the output, verify it where stakes demand, update reputation.

4. Programmatic volume is healthier volume

Every step in that pipeline is a transaction: a registration, a validation, a payment, a reputation update. At scale that is sustained programmatic volume, uncorrelated with whether the token is having a good week. It is a different and frankly healthier load profile than speculative trading, and it accrues to a chain that has made the per-call cost low enough that an agent does not think twice about spending.

What This Unlocks

Bind identity, trust, and settlement together and a few concrete primitives appear:

• Pay-per-call automation where agent work is priced and billed like an API endpoint, no account or subscription in between

• Composable pipelines assembled across providers with no pre-negotiated contracts, paid step by step

• Routing by price and track record, where an agent picks a counterparty on reputation and switches on the next call if a cheaper or more reliable one appears

• Portable settlement history tied to the same ERC-8004 identity that carries reputation, readable by any app

• Recourse that survives the transaction, because a paid-and-undelivered task leaves a permanent public record

Honest Limitations

Chris and Jack are both clear that the standard is only rails, and payments inherit every open question while adding their own. A settlement that clears in milliseconds and reverses never is unforgiving of a task that was paid for and not delivered. A working agent-payment economy still needs:

• Indexing and discovery, because a priced agent nobody can find earns nothing

• Sybil resistance, so reputation that gates payment cannot be farmed

• Verifiable execution, so the buyer pays for work that actually happened

• Dispute resolution, with refund and arbitration paths for failed tasks

• Legibility, so that what happened onchain reads as “this agent, this task, this price, this counterparty, paid, verified or not,” and not as raw calldata

That last one is where the dropdown comes back. The agent that got stuck on Snowtrace was failing at the easiest version of this problem: just seeing the chain through an interface built for someone else. The fix was one commit. Making an entire settlement economy readable, to the machines spending in it and the humans on the hook for it, is the version we are actually building toward.

Bottom Line

ERC-8004 gives agents an identity. Reputation and validation make them trustworthy. Avalanche’s transaction economics make it practical to pay them at the granularity their workflows demand, which is the step that turns a trusted counterparty into a completed transaction. The standard is the starting point. The payment rail is what makes the standard do work, and the legibility layer on top is what decides whether agentic payments become durable infrastructure or another thin metadata layer.

We started building that layer, almost by accident, the day we shipped a change for a machine instead of a person. I suspect we will be shipping those for a long time.

There’s a concept in blockchain called the Trilemma. First framed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, it describes a trade-off that every blockchain network has to navigate: you can optimize for security, decentralization, and scalability, but achieving all three at once is extraordinarily hard. Make something fast and secure and you often end up more centralized. Make it decentralized and secure and it tends to run slowly.

Avalanche was designed from the ground up to challenge that trade-off. Its consensus mechanism, its subnet architecture, and its focus on speed are all aimed at the scalability corner without giving up on the other two. But scalability isn’t just about consensus speed. There’s a quieter bottleneck that doesn’t make headlines: data management.

Every blockchain, at some point, runs into the same problem: the faster it grows, the harder it gets to store and retrieve all that data. Transactions pile up, state grows, and the database underneath has to keep up. Most networks just inherit whatever general-purpose database tools exist and hope for the best.

Ava Labs decided to build something better. That something is called Firewood.

What Is a Blockchain Database?

When a blockchain processes transactions, it needs to store the state of the network: who owns what, what contracts exist, what balances look like right now. That data has to be organized in a way that can be quickly read, verified, and updated thousands of times per second.

Most blockchains, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, use a data structure called a Merkle Tree to organize this. The idea is sound. The problem is that the databases they run on top of (tools like LevelDB and RocksDB) were built for entirely different purposes. They’re general-purpose tools being asked to do a very specific job, and the mismatch shows up as wasted disk space, unnecessary processing, and a constant need to clean up and reorganize data.

That cleanup process is called compaction. It’s a bit like defragmenting a hard drive, except it happens constantly, eats up resources, and slows everything down at exactly the wrong moments.

The bottom line: Firewood does the same job as the traditional stack, but in fewer steps, with less wasted work, and with performance that stays consistent whether the chain has been running for one month or ten years.

Firewood Skips Compaction Entirely

You don’t need to understand the code to understand why this matters. Think of it like a postal sorting center that organizes packages by address: zone, district, street, number. The warehouse system, though, was built for a furniture retailer and only understands product SKUs. So every package arriving gets a SKU stamped on it. Every package leaving gets that SKU decoded back into an address. Then every night, the overnight crew reshuffles the entire floor to reclaim shelf space, while the morning shift is already backing up at the loading dock. The mail gets delivered. Most of the building’s energy, though, goes into translation and reshuffling, not sorting.

The Firewood database isn’t a small tweak. It’s a different philosophy about how blockchain storage should work.

Firewood was built from the ground up specifically for blockchain state storage. It doesn’t sit on top of a generic database. Instead, it stores data the same way the blockchain actually thinks about it: as a tree of nodes, written directly to disk in that shape.

The result: Eliminating the need for manual compaction. Firewood manages free disk space the same way traditional memory management works, reusing space from expired data automatically and efficiently. When the old state is no longer needed, it gets cleaned up. When a new state comes in, it takes that reclaimed space.

For a network like Avalanche, where throughput is already high and the goal is to push it higher, this capability is fundamental to the architecture.

What Changes for the Avalanche Ecosystem

The real-world impact touches validators, developers, and eventually every user on the network.

Validators run leaner. Validator nodes are the backbone of the network. They process transactions and maintain the state of the chain. With Firewood, those nodes spend less time on database overhead and more time doing the actual work. That translates to lower operational costs and more headroom for throughput.

Developers get better infrastructure. Anyone building on Avalanche, whether that’s a DeFi protocol, a gaming application, or a real-world asset platform, benefits when the underlying storage layer is more reliable and faster. Firewood was first built with the EVM (the engine behind Avalanche’s C-Chain) in mind, but its design works for any blockchain that needs a verified, authenticated state.

The network scales more cleanly. One of Avalanche’s core promises is high-throughput, low-latency transactions. That promise gets harder to keep as the network grows and state balloons. Firewood is designed to keep performance stable even as the chain gets larger. That matters a lot for anyone building applications that depend on consistent speed.

Open Source, Open to Everyone

Ava Labs open-sourced Firewood from day one. It was a deliberate choice that reflects how seriously they take community-driven development.

The full Firewood codebase is available on GitHub under an Ecosystem License. Ava Labs has committed to releasing reproducible benchmarks comparing Firewood’s performance against other blockchain databases, so the community can see the numbers for itself.

This matters because the best infrastructure gets better when people can examine it, challenge it, and contribute to it. The open-source release is an invitation for developers, researchers, and validators across the ecosystem to be part of what comes next.

Firewood is currently in beta (the latest release is v0.3.1, from March 2026), so the API is still evolving. But the architecture is in place, and integration into Avalanche’s core components is on the roadmap.

The Bigger Picture

There’s a version of blockchain infrastructure where every network just layers tool on top of tool, inheriting debt from systems never designed for this use case. And there’s a version where someone stops and builds the right thing from scratch.

Firewood is the second version. It won’t make headlines the way a token launch does. But for the Avalanche ecosystem, it’s the kind of work that determines whether the network can actually deliver on its ambitions at scale.

The foundation matters. Ava Labs just made it stronger.

The next serious wave of consumer crypto will not look like another abstract financial primitive. It will look like familiar behavior upgraded by better infrastructure. The Core Model

YourGrails is a digital pack opening platform built on the Avalanche blockchain. Users purchase digital packs containing Card Tokens that correspond to physical, professionally graded trading cards held in custody. Each Card Token represents beneficial ownership of one specific underlying card, and transferring that Card Token transfers beneficial ownership of the corresponding physical card. This is the core of the model. The NFT is not the collectible by itself. It is the ownership wrapper for a real graded card. That makes the system different from purely digital collectibles where scarcity exists only inside the digital object. Here, the digital layer is used to coordinate ownership, transfer, marketplace settlement, buyback rights, and eventual redemption around an asset that already exists in the physical world.

This is the strongest part of the product design. YourGrails does not ask collectors to abandon the physical card. It keeps the physical card as the center of value and uses blockchain to improve how that card can be owned, moved, valued, sold, financed, and redeemed. That is a much cleaner thesis than forcing a speculative token into a collectibles product. The card remains the asset. The chain becomes the rail.

That is important because the credibility of the product depends on the link between the Card Token and the physical card. If the token represents ownership, the user needs confidence that the physical card exists, is identifiable, is held properly, and can be transferred or redeemed according to the rules of the platform.

In this type of model, custody is not a back office detail. Custody is part of the product. Without strong custody and clear ownership language, tokenized collectibles become only another layer of speculation. With it, they can become usable asset wrappers. This is where YourGrails becomes more interesting than a simple pack opening app. The platform is not only selling a reveal experience. It is building an ownership system around physical collectibles.

Pack Opening as the Consumer Entry Point

The pack opening mechanic is where YourGrails connects product design with collector behavior. Users purchase packs, open them, and receive one randomly selected card from the available inventory for that tier, with rarity odds published and updated on the relevant pack pages.

That matters because users are not buying an unclear chance at a collectible. They are entering an inventory based system where randomness, valuation, rarity, and available card pools shape the experience. YourGrails starts with something collectors already understand, the sealed pack, the chase, and the reveal, while blockchain improves what happens after the pull.

Verifiable Randomness and Fair Reveals

Randomness is critical for any pack opening product, especially when real graded cards and market value are involved. YourGrails reduces the need to trust private server logic by using a verifiable randomness process, making card distribution more transparent and auditable.

This does not remove every trust assumption, since custody, valuation, inventory, and operations still matter. But it strengthens one of the most sensitive parts of the experience: proving that the reveal is not just a black box.

The Buyback Mechanism

The buyback mechanism is the second major design choice. YourGrails states that users may exercise a buyback option to receive 90 percent of the assessed value of a card, paid in the medium designated by the platform. The assessed value is determined by YourGrails using market data sources disclosed on the service. The buyback reserve is replenished through pack sale revenue, and larger buybacks may be subject to manual review and processing delays. This makes the buyback feature powerful, but it should be framed correctly. It is not a guaranteed profit engine and it is not a risk free exit. It is a contractual liquidity feature with conditions, reserve management, valuation methodology, manual controls, and possible temporary suspension during extreme market disruption or technical maintenance.

That nuance is important because the strongest version of YourGrails is not “open packs and make money.” That framing would be weak and probably wrong. The stronger framing is that YourGrails introduces a cleaner liquidity layer for physical collectibles. A collector can reveal a card and then decide whether to hold, list, sell back, use in platform mechanics, or redeem physically. That decision tree is much richer than the traditional experience of opening a physical pack, storing the card, and later trying to sell it through fragmented marketplaces.

Marketplace Liquidity

The marketplace turns YourGrails from a pack opening product into a secondary ownership layer. Users can list and buy Card Tokens, with transactions settling on Avalanche and ownership transferring onchain once payment is completed.

This makes vaulted collectibles easier to trade because the physical card does not need to move every time ownership changes. The Card Token can move instantly, while the card remains in custody until someone chooses redemption. That creates faster trading, cleaner ownership transfer, and better price discovery, as long as marketplace activity remains protected from wash trading, self dealing, and misleading listings.

Redemption Back to the Physical World

Redemption is what connects the onchain ownership layer back to the physical card. Users can request shipment of the underlying card they own by holding the Card Token, completing any required verification, providing shipping details, and covering the relevant fees.

Once redemption is confirmed, the Card Token is burned on Avalanche and the physical card is retrieved, inspected, packaged, and shipped. This burn to redeem model is important because it prevents the same collectible from existing as both a live digital ownership claim and a redeemed physical asset at the same time.

Pack Battles and Engagement Mechanics

Pack Battles add a more competitive layer to the YourGrails experience. Two users open packs of equal value, and the user with the higher total card value wins a bonus pack, while both users keep their original pulls.

The feature adds social energy and intensity to pack opening, but it also needs clear boundaries. YourGrails frames Pack Battles with age restrictions, jurisdiction responsibility, random outcomes, and no guarantee of profit, which is important for keeping the product both engaging and properly defined.

No Platform Token

One of YourGrails’ strongest design choices is that it does not rely on a platform token. Card Tokens represent beneficial ownership of real physical trading cards, not equity, profit share, or a claim against the company.

That makes the model cleaner. The value is centered on the card itself, while the utility comes from the product experience:

• inventory

• custody

• fair reveals

• marketplace liquidity

• settlement

• redemption

• trust

YourGrails does not need a speculative token narrative to make the thesis work.

A Different Kind of Real World Asset

The broader thesis is that tokenization becomes more interesting when it attaches to assets people already understand. Real world assets are usually discussed through the institutional lens. Treasuries, private credit, money market funds, invoices, real estate, or structured products. Those categories matter, but they are not the only form of real world asset. A graded Pokémon card is also a real world asset. It has provenance, price history, authenticity requirements, custody needs, liquidity constraints, and emotional demand.

YourGrails applies onchain infrastructure to a category where the user does not need a long explanation of why the object matters. The card already matters. The question is whether the rails around the card can become better. That is where the product becomes strategically interesting. It connects consumer culture, physical collectibles, stablecoin settlement, NFT ownership, marketplace liquidity, and Avalanche infrastructure into one experience.

The Final Read

YourGrails is still early, but the early signal is already difficult to ignore.

Avalanche is preparing another protocol upgrade, but this time the focus isn’t on faster transactions or new features. Instead, it’s about the network’s economic model.

ACP-285 (Reduce Minimum Consumption Rate) proposes a change to how staking rewards are calculated. While the adjustment may seem small, it is designed to encourage longer staking commitments, reduce the rate at which new AVAX is issued, and improve the long-term sustainability of Avalanche’s staking system.

If approved, ACP-285 will become part of the upcoming Helicon upgrade alongside ACP-236 (Continuous Staking) and ACP-273 (Reduced Minimum Staking Duration).

What Is an Avalanche Community Proposal?

Avalanche Community Proposals (ACPs) are how protocol upgrades are introduced and discussed within the ecosystem. Rather than implementing changes immediately, proposals are published publicly so validators, developers, researchers, and community members can review them, ask questions, and provide feedback before they are adopted.

ACP-285 is currently in this discussion phase, meaning there is still an opportunity for the community to help shape the proposal before it becomes part of a future network upgrade.

How Avalanche Staking Rewards Work

When you stake AVAX on the Primary Network, your rewards depend partly on how long you commit your stake.

Avalanche calculates staking rewards using two key parameters:

• Minimum Consumption Rate: the reward floor for shorter staking periods.

• Maximum Consumption Rate: the highest reward available for staking the full 365-day period.

Today, these values are 10% and 12%, meaning the difference in rewards between shorter and longer staking commitments is relatively small.

What Does ACP-285 Change?

ACP-285 proposes lowering the Minimum Consumption Rate from 10% to 7.5%, while leaving the Maximum Consumption Rate unchanged at 12%.

The proposal only affects new staking periods that begin after it takes effect. Existing staking positions would continue under the reward parameters that were in place when they started.

By lowering the reward floor while keeping the maximum reward the same, Avalanche aims to create a stronger incentive for validators to commit to longer staking periods.

Why Was This Change Proposed?

The proposal has three primary objectives.

Reduce Inflation

Staking rewards create new AVAX.

By lowering rewards for shorter staking periods, ACP-285 aims to reduce the amount of new AVAX issued through staking over time. Lower inflation would reduce dilution for existing holders while helping preserve more rewards for future validators.

Encourage Longer Staking

One of the goals of ACP-285 is to strengthen the incentive for validators to make longer commitments to securing the network.

Under the proposed changes, shorter staking periods would receive lower rewards, while the maximum reward for a full 365-day commitment would remain unchanged. This creates a stronger economic incentive to choose longer staking durations instead of frequently rolling over short-term positions.

Strengthen Long-Term Network Security

Avalanche has a fixed maximum supply of AVAX, meaning staking rewards come from a finite pool of tokens.

By slowing the rate at which new rewards are distributed, the proposal aims to preserve more of that supply for future validator incentives, helping support the network’s long-term security.

Why Is This Happening Now?

ACP-285 is closely linked to two other proposals included in the Helicon upgrade.

ACP-236 introduces continuous staking, allowing validators to automatically renew their staking positions instead of manually restaking every time a staking period ends.

ACP-273 reduces the minimum staking duration, making short-term staking strategies much easier.

While both proposals improve flexibility and user experience, they also make short-duration staking more attractive. ACP-285 acts as a counterbalance by increasing the economic advantage of staking for longer periods.

Together, these proposals aim to make staking more flexible while maintaining incentives that support the network’s long-term security.

Who Could Be Affected?

Long-term validators may welcome the proposal because the maximum reward for one-year staking remains unchanged while the overall issuance of new AVAX could decrease.

However, validators and delegators who prefer shorter staking periods would receive lower rewards under the proposed model.

Some community members have also raised questions about how the proposal could affect liquid staking protocols such as sAVAX, along with DeFi strategies that rely on shorter staking cycles. These discussions remain ongoing as the proposal is refined.

This article focuses on what those tools actually show you. A wallet page is more than a collection of balances and transactions; it’s a record of behavior. Every balance, token, approval, and contract interaction is a clue.

The guiding principle is simple: Always watch for the weird, the unexpected, and the unprecedented.

Address & Balance Overview

At the top of the page you’ll see the wallet address: a long 0x... string that serves as the account’s identifier on Avalanche’s C-Chain.

Sometimes explorers attach labels to known addresses such as exchanges, protocols, routers, or treasury wallets. If no label exists, all you know is that the address has no publicly recognized identity. Many explorers also allow users to create private name tags for addresses they frequently monitor. These labels are personal notes and do not verify the identity or legitimacy of an address.

Directly beneath the address, you’ll typically find the wallet’s AVAX balance and estimated USD value. By themselves, these figures reveal very little. A wallet may be active, dormant, newly created, or emptied after an attack. The important part is context.

You’ll also see convenience features such as copy buttons and QR codes. These make addresses easier to share but provide no security information.

Normal: A standard address, with or without a label, and balances that align with the wallet’s expected activity.

Warning: Explorer-generated scam warnings, known malicious addresses, or near-zero AVAX balances paired with large numbers of unfamiliar tokens.

Takeaway: The header provides context, not trust. Labels and balances can be useful clues, but the wallet’s activity is what matters most.

Token Holdings

Below the Total balance, you’ll see the wallet’s total balance and the number of assets it holds. Clicking the dropdown arrow expands the asset breakdown, revealing the tokens, NFTs, LP tokens, and other assets associated with the address.

What you find there falls into two categories: assets you acquired intentionally, and assets you didn’t.

Legitimate holdings are usually assets you intentionally acquired, such as stablecoins, LP tokens, governance tokens, or recognized currencies like USDC and WAVAX.

Unfamiliar entries are often spam tokens; worthless assets airdropped to wallets as part of scam campaigns.

The most common red flag here is the presence of unsolicited tokens.

Scammers frequently airdrop worthless tokens to random wallets. The goal is not the token itself but the interaction that follows. Users are encouraged to visit a website, connect a wallet, approve a transaction, or “claim” a reward. Those actions often lead to theft.

Many scam tokens are unsellable, have malicious contract logic, or direct users toward phishing sites.

If you encounter tokens you never purchased, do not interact with them simply because they appear valuable.

Normal: Recognizable assets acquired through expected activity.

Warning: Large numbers of unfamiliar tokens, especially when they make up most of the wallet’s holdings.

Takeaway: The tokens you don’t recognize often deserve more attention than the ones you do.

Transaction History

The transaction list is the wallet’s activity log. It records what the address has done on-chain.

Key fields include:

• Hash: Unique transaction identifier.

• Method: The function that was called.

• Timestamp: When the transaction occurred.

• From/To: The sender and recipient.

• Value: Amount of AVAX transferred.

The Method column provides a quick summary of what the transaction did. In this example, we see actions such as Transfer, Approve, Multicall, and Swap Compact. Depending on the explorer and transaction type, some simple transfers may appear as Transfer or may have no decoded method displayed, while DeFi interactions typically show the function or action being executed.

Normal: Activity that matches the wallet’s purpose and history.

Warning: Repeated interactions with unknown contracts, unexpected approvals, or large-value transactions involving unfamiliar assets.

Whenever something seems off, start here. Most wallet investigations begin by identifying the transaction that changed everything.

Takeaway: The Method field often reveals the transaction’s purpose at a glance, while the From/To fields help identify unexpected recipients or unusual contract interactions.

Approval Transactions

One method worth paying special attention to is Approve. When you approve a token, you give another contract permission to spend that asset on your behalf. Approvals are required for many DeFi activities, including swaps, liquidity provision, and lending, and typically appear in the transaction history as an Approve call directed at a protocol or smart contract.

The problem is that these permissions often remain active long after you stop using an application. Some approvals are effectively unlimited, granting permission to spend the maximum possible amount. On explorers, these may appear as extremely large values representing the maximum uint256 amount.

That becomes dangerous when:

• The approved contract is malicious.

• The protocol is compromised.

• You were tricked into signing an approval through a phishing site.

Many wallet-draining attacks begin with an approval rather than a direct theft. The attacker doesn’t need your tokens immediately; they only need permission to access them later.

Normal: Approval transactions involving reputable protocols you actively use, often for specific amounts or recent activities.

Warning: Approval transactions you don’t remember making, unfamiliar spender contracts, or old unlimited approvals that are no longer needed.

If you discover questionable approvals, revoke them immediately using a trusted revocation tool.

Takeaway: An approval does not move funds immediately, but it grants permission for future transfers. Treat approval transactions with the same caution you would treat access keys to your assets.

Internal Transactions

Internal transactions are the contract-to-contract calls that occur during the execution of a transaction. They do not have their own transaction hashes because they happen inside a larger transaction initiated by the user.

This matters because the main transaction page often shows only the starting point. In our example, the wallet interacts with LFJ: Router V1, but the Internal Txns tab reveals seven additional contract calls involving LFJ: Joe Pair, Wrapped AVAX, and Orange: JUICE. These behind-the-scenes interactions are what allow the swap to execute successfully.

Without checking the Internal Txns tab, you may miss how assets actually moved through the protocol.

Normal: Multiple internal transactions generated by swaps, liquidity operations, lending protocols, and other DeFi activities.

Warning: Unexpected contract interactions or internal transfers that help explain missing funds or unexplained balance changes.

Takeaway: Internal transactions reveal what happened behind the scenes. When investigating a transaction, don’t stop at the overview page; follow the internal calls to see the full flow of assets.

Liquidity Positions

Liquidity providers receive LP tokens that represent their share of a pool.

These tokens act as receipts. When liquidity is added, LP tokens are minted. When liquidity is removed, LP tokens are burned.

If you actively provide liquidity, seeing LP tokens is expected.

The important question is whether you recognize the underlying pool.

An LP position tied to a legitimate trading pair is usually unremarkable. An LP position connected to an unfamiliar or suspicious token deserves investigation.

Normal: LP tokens from pools you knowingly joined.

Warning: Liquidity positions you don’t recognize or pools built around questionable assets.

Takeaway: LP tokens represent ownership in a pool. If you don’t remember joining that pool, find out why the position exists.

Contract Interactions: Verified vs. Unverified

Whenever a wallet interacts with a smart contract, the explorer allows you to inspect that contract. The first thing to check is its verification status.

A verified contract has publicly available source code that matches the deployed bytecode. In the example below, the Pangolin JOE-USDT.e Liquidity Pool displays a verification badge and a “Contract Source Code Verified” notice. SnowTrace also shows the contract name, compiler information, and the contract’s source code, allowing anyone to inspect how it works.

An unverified contract provides much less transparency.

In the example below, the DeltaPrime attack contract 0x2D81eCA9C72eA059F126a37eC205601487217A16 shows only basic contract information and deployed bytecode. The source code is unavailable, making it impossible to inspect the contract’s logic through the explorer.

Verification improves transparency, but it does not guarantee safety. A verified contract can still contain bugs, risky permissions, or intentionally harmful functionality. Likewise, some legitimate projects may temporarily remain unverified.

Normal: Interactions with established, verified contracts whose code and behavior can be independently reviewed.

Warning: Unexpected transfers, approvals, or interactions involving unverified contracts deserve extra scrutiny. If you cannot inspect the code, you are relying entirely on trust.

Takeaway: Verification provides transparency, not trustworthiness. A green checkmark lets you inspect a contract’s code; it does not guarantee that the contract is safe.

Reading the Full Story

Throughout this guide, we’ve examined different wallet addresses, transactions, and contracts to highlight specific security concepts.

In practice, no single data point proves that something is safe or malicious. Instead, patterns emerge when you combine information from balances, token holdings, transaction history, internal transactions, approvals, and contract interactions.

The goal is not to memorize every field on a wallet page. It’s to understand what each section tells you and when something looks out of place. A strange token, an unexpected approval, an unusual transaction, or an interaction with an unverified contract may be harmless on its own. Together, however, these clues can point to a larger issue.

Takeaway: A wallet page is one of the most powerful security tools available to any on-chain user. Most scams leave traces long before users realize something is wrong. The users who learn to spot those traces early are usually the ones who keep their funds.

For years, cross-border payments have been one of blockchain’s most promising use cases, yet most activity in the industry has revolved around trading, NFTs, and speculative assets. Behind the scenes, however, Avalanche has been steadily building infrastructure designed to move real money between businesses, institutions, and consumers around the world.

On June 18, 2026, Avalanche announced the Avalanche Payments Collective (APC), a coalition of 28 organizations spanning every layer of the global payments stack. On paper, it may look like another industry consortium. In reality, many of these companies were already building on Avalanche long before the APC was given a name.

Franklin Templeton, VanEck, Anchorage Digital, Paxos, Kraken, and 23 other organizations now form part of the collective. Together, they represent institutions operating across dozens of countries, managing significant amounts of capital, and navigating some of the most heavily regulated sectors in finance.

The Problem With Moving Money

What the APC Is

It settles transactions in seconds and carries more than $2.5 trillion in transaction history. SETTL, Zerohash, and Dakota extend those capabilities across institutional, banking, and enterprise payment workflows.

Stablecoins: Agora, Paxos, Ethena, and the Wyoming Stable Token Commission each provide digital dollar infrastructure on Avalanche. Wyoming’s FRNT is the first fully reserved stablecoin issued directly by a US state government, allowing money to move on weekends and public holidays when traditional banking is closed.

Cross-border liquidity: One of the biggest costs in international payments is pre-funding accounts in every country you operate in, keeping idle cash sitting in dozens of bank accounts just to guarantee payouts. Axiym solves this with on-demand liquidity infrastructure, letting licensed money service businesses access capital at the moment they need it rather than months in advance. Axiym has processed more than $1.4 billion in volume on Avalanche, serving platforms that collectively move more than $25 billion annually across 150+ countries. Nonco handles the foreign exchange side, connecting more than 350 liquidity providers to stablecoin markets and settling both sides of a currency trade simultaneously.

Treasury and yield: Franklin Templeton‘s BENJI token gives treasury teams 24/7 access to a regulated US government money market fund, redeemable on-chain. VanEck‘s VBILL offers tokenized short-term Treasury exposure and can be used as collateral in lending markets. OpenTrade and Grove add yield and credit infrastructure for businesses that want their settlement reserves working harder.

Business payments: OatFi embeds financing into payment workflows so suppliers get paid immediately while buyers retain flexible terms. Rise handles global payroll across 190 countries using stablecoins with automated compliance. Request Finance manages invoicing and accounts payable with direct integrations into QuickBooks, NetSuite, and Xero.

Merchant acceptance: NHN KCP, one of South Korea’s largest payment processors, brings merchant infrastructure to the collective. In a pilot at its headquarters, employees pay for cafeteria purchases by scanning a QR code, with smart contracts completing authorization in under two seconds.

The Real Challenge Isn’t Technology

While blockchain technology has matured considerably over the past decade, adoption remains the biggest hurdle. Payments is a highly competitive industry built on established networks, regulations, and business relationships that have developed over decades. Even when a new system offers faster settlement or lower costs, convincing institutions to change existing workflows is rarely straightforward.

The APC does not solve that challenge overnight. What it does provide is a growing ecosystem of infrastructure providers, liquidity networks, stablecoin issuers, treasury solutions, and payment companies that can work together on a common foundation. Whether that translates into widespread adoption remains to be seen, but the pieces are increasingly falling into place.

Why Avalanche

Avalanche can create dedicated, application-specific Layer 1 blockchains. Each runs with its own validators, rules, and governance, while remaining interoperable with the broader Avalanche network.

Institutions cannot put sensitive transaction data on a public network where anyone can see it, or share block space with unpredictable fees and congestion. Avalanche gives them an environment they control, that meets compliance requirements, and performs consistently at scale.

Yet the APC highlights how much infrastructure is already operating on Avalanche today. Across settlement, stablecoins, treasury management, payroll, merchant payments, and cross-border liquidity, many of the building blocks for a modern payments network are already in place.

For an industry that often focuses on future adoption, the APC is a reminder that adoption is already happening. The Avalanche NFT scene between 2021 and 2023 was quite unique due to how closely knit it was, everyone knew everyone. Projects, marketplaces, communities, whales, and collectors were constantly intersecting, collaborating, and showing up in the same spaces. It was one big, overlapping NFT community.

We always got premium drama and entertainment on the timeline ever so often, from the amusing personalities, to the incredibly inside jokes and intense competition between different communities which kept the whole ecosystem alive and thriving.

Some Of The Iconic NFT Projects

While countless NFT projects launched on Avalanche over the years, let’s revisit a few of the most interesting ones in no particular order.

Chikn

Chikn was one of the most consistent and successful NFT projects ever seen on Avalanche.

Launched in 2021, Chikn is a utility NFT project designed more like a lightweight on-chain game rather than just a static collection. It operates a tri-tokenomics system that was very popular during the early NFT days. The system was intuitive and heavily engaged by a very large community, it was built around three tokens; $EGG, $FEED, and $FERT.

• $EGG is produced by the Chikn NFT itself.

• $FEED is used to grow (upgrade) the Chikn.

• $FERT is used to boost farm efficiency.

What this meant was that when you bought a Chikn NFT and joined the community, you weren’t just doing it for the art but you also had the opportunity to participate in the game, earn, grow, and reinvest. At the time, for many participants who understood the mechanics early and played the loop effectively, it proved to be a net-positive experience.

Overall Chikn was great, it had a massive community, and contributed to NFT volume on Avalanche.

Avalanche Party Animals (APA) / OOPA

APA launched at a time when NFTs were very popular and in high demand. After its launch and reveal in late 2021 it quickly became one of the most popular NFT projects on Avalanche.

With a supply of 10,000 pieces, the art became very popular and for months, a lot of community members repped it as their PFP, and it really felt like one of the defining collections on the chain.

Over time though, the hype and interest started to fade and APA became more of a legacy and was always remembered as one of the greatest NFTs on Avalanche.

Fast forward a little over a year later, a lot had changed and it was a different era for Avalanche NFTs. Then something new was teased by the APA team. It was a reboot. A new attempt at building a premier NFT project on Avalanche, with a new name, new branding, new art, and somewhat new management.

Enter OOPA

The idea was simple: create a high-quality NFT project and aim to set the standard on Avalanche.

The reboot was initially met with a lot of mixed feelings and opinions, but the team behind it did a lot of work to show that the project deserved a chance. The quality was evident: strong traits, good accessories, and well-thought-out honoraries for top community members.

OOPA also introduced some notable features such as:

• ERC-1155 token standard, allowing for dynamic NFTs

• DAOs/sub-communities formed around traits, intended to be managed by the community with support from the core team.

As time went on, there were a lot of positives, the team kept pushing out quality content, top voices in the community were supportive, and OOPA had captured the mindshare of the whole chain.

Mint day came and OOPA minted out and launched with a clean, functional website where users could swap accessories, explore DAOs, and interact with the ecosystem.

Things were solid, there was a ton of activity on the secondary market, DAOs were forming quickly, and people were actively using OOPA PFPs.

The team had a series of exciting collaborations with other projects and communities which majorly involved OOPA featuring custom traits or outfits inspired by whichever project was on the other side of the collaboration. This brought about a lot of interesting concepts.

In many ways, with its ambitious launch, quality art, and innovative experiments, OOPA pushed the boundaries of what NFT projects on Avalanche could become, leaving behind an unforgettable legacy.

RipperzNFT

The first thing that comes to mind when you hear RipperzNFT is “glitch”, and a close second is “memes”. The community had incredible memes.

RipperzNFT was one of the many collections that emerged during the peak era of NFTs on Avalanche. Created by artist Esoteros, the collection stood out immediately for its unique glitch-inspired art style, which quickly attracted attention and built a passionate community around it.

Ripperz had an incredible vibe in its community, the project had a chaotic but energetic vibe. Think of nonstop memes, constant activity and games on Discord, heavy interaction across X/Twitter, and an overall culture that felt alive every day, that’s what Ripperz was.

Meme-making became a defining part of the project, with talented creators from within the community producing a steady stream of highly recognizable content themed around the collection’s glitchy aesthetic and humor.

At its peak, Ripperz built an online subculture around art, memes, and shared internet energy. The project also was home to major characters in the Avalanche NFT scene like Wrathtank and Disco who were huge influences in the community at the time.

While activity of the project itself has become less frequent, there still remain small factions of the movement that pop up in and around the project from time to time.

Smol Joes & Joe Studios

Imagine the biggest NFT marketplace at the time, launching its own NFT project with a scarce supply of only 100 pieces. As one would expect, that would automatically be one of the most premium, must-have NFTs.

Enter Smol Joes

Smol Joes was one of the biggest NFTs on Avalanche due to its scarce supply and backing from a major NFT marketplace, Joepegs.

The NFT arm of Joepegs was known as Joe Studios and Smol Joes was the flagship. It had an elite community, with more than a few popular figures from the ecosystem actively repping the brand and trading the pieces. Owning a Smol Joe came with a lot of perks, it exposed its community to a wide range of opportunities, from guaranteed whitelist spots, to top group chats and private access, real-life events, and so many more things that made it such a premium collection.

While the Smol Joes community itself was very tight-knit, they had close ties to other collections within the Joe Studios bracket which meant a series of intersections and familiarity across the board making it one large community. Some of the other NFT projects include: Smol Creeps, Smol Land, Peons and a few others they were associated with. Joe Studios had relative success with a lot of their collections, depending on who you ask and the collections were handled separately from one another for the most part.

Despite having such a low supply, Smol Joes was extremely big and popular across the Avalanche NFT scene, outshining its sister collections in almost every aspect, and stood as a true titan of its time.

WolfiLand

A project that had so much hype and attention that it sold out its 1000 piece collection in seconds, making it one of the fastest sellouts ever seen on Avalanche.

Wolfi is a vibrant collection that truly embodied the Avalanche spirit, as the art itself was inspired by the Avalanche mascot and the project aimed to become the NFT mascot for Avalanche. The art was created by Mar, and the project launched in late 2022.

Leading up to the launch, excitement and anticipation were at peak levels. Everyone wanted to get in, whether it was for the art or the potential profits. Minting the NFT became top priority for the average NFT enjoyer back then.

The mint was set on Joepegs, and the days leading up to it were filled with activities and constant conversations across the timeline. Essentially, going into the mint, everyone involved knew how important minting the NFT was.

Fast forward to mint day, the collection sold out in less than 10 seconds. Following that was insane price action and volume on the open market, while the timeline got flooded with discussion about the project.

Wolfi would later go on to release a Meme Gallery, which had the community extremely engaged. It was basically a website filled with tons of fun memes that were current and relatable for that era. This strengthened the community even more because the memes were heavily shared by holders and supporters, and some of them remain relevant and in use to this day.

ChadDoge / Supers

In everyday life we all have favourites, color, food and many more. As for NFTs on Avalanche, ChadDoge was the favourite child. It was safe, it was loved by everyone, and it had an incredible team and community behind it.

ChadDoge was a typical NFT project on the C-Chain: great community, quality art, and very active within the ecosystem. If someone was entering the Avalanche ecosystem for the first time, ChadDoge was the NFT to recommend.

The community was characterized by a high output of content, collaborations, and engagement. A lot of that quality was largely attributed to one person at the time, the community manager Stupifff. He was basically the soul of the ChadDoge community, known by everyone and adored by the holders.

ChadDoge also had great relationships with several other projects and individuals within the Avalanche NFT ecosystem, which positioned the community to be part of almost every opportunity available at the time.

Another major aspect of the project was the news and update content they produced. This came in the form of fun animations featuring the NFT character acting as a news reporter, updating everyone on the latest happenings within the Avalanche ecosystem. The series became very popular and was well received by the community.

The Second Collection

Along the line, the project launched something called ChadDoge Supers, which was basically a secondary collection for the project. The idea behind it was upgraded art, a mutated and “super” version of the original base art.

The new collection got people excited. After all, what could be better than a trusted project with a strong track record launching something new? The art was also very good and exciting.

The collection had a successful launch, and the reveal process was quite intuitive and fun. You basically received a sci-fi themed capsule NFT which you would use to mutate your regular ChadDoge NFT, followed by a cool animation showing it transforming into the Super version.

The timeline loved it, and just like with the original collection, it continued as a balanced project that kept its community happy.

As a whole package of quality art, community-first approach, creative content, and trusted leadership, ChadDoge secured its status as a solid pillar of the Avalanche NFT ecosystem.

Morfs

You may or may not have heard of Cynical Hate DAO (CHD), but if you have, then you’ve probably also heard of Morfs. While Morfs wasn’t created or managed by CHD, the two entities became deeply intertwined during a defining period of Avalanche NFTs.

Morfs is a limited 100-piece collection created by 3D artist Hurrrrrrrr, built around a distinctive clay-like art style that immediately stood out on the chain at the time. Beyond the quality and uniqueness of the art itself, the project came to represent an era on Avalanche where CHD was very involved in the NFT conversation and culture surrounding the ecosystem.

Over time, Morfs became somewhat of an unofficial mascot for CHD, with the DAO occasionally providing utility and value to holders. The most notable example was access to minting bots, which gave Morfs holders a major advantage during competitive launches.

Beyond CHD

Beyond all the CHD associations, Morfs was primarily driven by Hurrrrrrrr’s consistency in artistic output. The artist remained highly engaged with both the collection and its community, constantly releasing high-quality 3D renders and visuals. Sometimes these pieces expanded on the Morfs universe itself, while other times they acted as commentary on whatever conversations or narratives were dominating Avalanche at the time. That constant output kept the collection popular and culturally relevant far beyond what its tiny 100-piece supply would normally suggest.

Morfs ultimately became more than just another Avalanche NFT collection. It captured a very specific atmosphere and moment in the ecosystem’s history, one heavily shaped by the enigmatic presence of CHD.

Dokyo

Culture, lore, storytelling, premium art, and branding, all of these were things Dokyo stood for, and they planned to deliver it all through this unique NFT collection founded by Brando.

Dokyo emerged during the later evolution of Avalanche NFTs, at a time when the ecosystem seemed to be craving something of higher quality.

Dokyo arrived with an intriguing sense of mystery, using cryptic posts every now and then as they slowly introduced themselves to the ecosystem. It was exciting and it made the majority curious. As the rollout continued, it was revealed that Dokyo was the start of a broader initiative aimed at cultivating a culture of high-quality NFTs on Avalanche, so it had a lot of strong backing at the time.

Dokyo grew rapidly in popularity and was clearly leading a charge to improve the overall outlook of NFTs on Avalanche. It brought in new faces, a lot of engagement, and generally created a positive atmosphere around NFTs on Avalanche again.

As expected, mint day arrived and the launch was very successful. The project’s launch also coincided with a campaign on Hyperspace, an NFT marketplace that was incentivizing NFT trading at the time, so Dokyo became the obvious collection to trade and volume exploded.

The Art

The art itself was one of the biggest selling points of the project. Leading up to launch, the team had already displayed excellence in the branding and content they produced, so expectations for the art were high.

They took a unique approach by making faceless PFP NFTs, or more accurately, masked characters. Every piece in the collection featured vibrant masks covering the faces of the characters, and that became the defining theme of the collection.

The concept was well received, and the community quickly got attached to the art style. A lot of people even began collecting certain masks. Over time, that culture grew stronger, and some masks became highly desirable, affecting prices on the open market and making trading within the collection very interesting.

At its height, Dokyo actually hit the #1 spot for 24-hour trading volume across all blockchains globally, putting a ton of new eyes on the Avalanche scene. Even though the momentum eventually faded, that crazy run showed what the Avax community is capable of when everyone rallies behind a project. Ultimately, it proved that the real magic of Dokyo didn’t come from the team who started it, but from the collectors who ran with it.

Ferdy/Ferdy Frens

This is one of the most unique and interesting origins of any project on Avalanche. What started as nothing more than pure vibes somehow evolved into a full-blown NFT empire.

To understand it properly, you have to go back to the very beginning.

Origin Story

The story starts with an Avalanche community member known as Momind, who one day randomly began giving away NFTs from an abandoned collection to friends and followers. Momind apparently found the weird art style amusing enough to scoop up a large number of pieces from the 300-piece collection.

At first, it was just a small inside joke between him and a handful of people he had shared the NFTs with. Gradually things started to escalate, more people began liking the art and jokes around it.

Soon, the floor price began climbing, and at the same time Momind started pushing out increasingly chaotic memes using the project’s art style, the exact thing that had drawn people in initially. More memes followed, with each new one somehow more unhinged than the last, and the culture surrounding the project began growing faster than anyone expected.

The Turning Point

Momind announced that he had officially acquired the project and that ownership of the contracts had been transferred to him. Shortly after, respected members of the Avalanche community began visibly aligning themselves with the project through development, management, and support roles.

This sequence of events sent the collection into an absolute frenzy. Prices exploded, volume surged, and the entire ecosystem suddenly became obsessed with what the project was evolving into. The meme culture that had originally fueled the movement only became bigger from there.

Eventually, a dedicated website gallery was created to showcase the memes being produced, and it was constantly updated. At that point, the memes had become recognizable across the entire Avalanche ecosystem.

Beyond NFTs

Over time, the project started evolving beyond just NFTs. The team launched FerdyBet, which has now become a full-scale gambling platform featuring a wide range of games to play. The platform proved to be a success and remains active today.

The ecosystem also expanded with the creation of FerdyFrens, a much larger 5,000-piece collection designed to grow the community while maintaining the same chaotic and recognizable artistic identity that made the original collection iconic.

What makes the entire story memorable is that it began with an abandoned collection, weird art, unhinged memes, and a community that decided to rally behind pure energy and culture until it transformed into something much bigger. A cultural phenomenon.

Zebruhs

This was another classic example of an Avalanche NFT project going viral purely off vibes. No team, no mint, no official launch, just a spontaneous and highly infectious movement that emerged out of nowhere. Although the project ultimately didn’t end as successfully as Ferdy, the energy surrounding it at the time was genuinely immaculate and contagious.

How It Started

It all started with a group of people buying into a rugged NFT project and jokingly calling each other “bruh”. Somehow, the joke escalated and more people bought from the secondary market to get in on the joke.

A large part of the excitement came from the obvious similarity to Ferdy. The setup was familiar: abandoned project, community movement, meme culture, growing attention. The play seemed almost too obvious. At the same time though, there was a lingering doubt hanging over everything: “There’s no way this happens again… right?”

Unlike Ferdy, nobody seemed set up to take over the project, nevertheless the momentum grew and the floor price went up. The craze took over the ecosystem for days, memes flooded the timeline, people changed profile pictures, and the culture surrounding the project began taking on a life of its own.

Next Ferdy?

For a brief period, it felt like Zebruhs was going to be the next Ferdy, but there was one major problem: the ownership of the original project couldn’t actually be transferred to anyone, making a proper takeover impossible. This led to discussions about migrating the community to a brand-new contract and relaunching the collection entirely.

Eventually, a relaunch did happen, but it didn’t yield any meaningful results long term, the migration introduced complications, the spontaneity that made the movement special began disappearing, and attention naturally shifted toward newer trends within the ecosystem.

In the end, Zebruhs didn’t evolve into the next Ferdy, but its run was extremely entertaining for the whole ecosystem.

Conclusion

The Avalanche NFTs scene was a lot of different things but above all, it was extremely entertaining and worthwhile. While a lot of these projects are no longer active today, they delivered some of the best art, memes, stories, cultures, products and many more things which contributed to make Avalanche a fun ecosystem with a lot of rich lore and culture.

Most people only notice a blockchain when it becomes loud. When DEX volume accelerates, memecoins run, gas fees rise, and the timeline starts repeating the same narrative, it becomes easy to say that an ecosystem is “back.”

Avalanche is moving through a quieter phase right now, but the underlying network picture is more stable than the surface activity suggests.

The latest Nansen AI snapshot shows a network that is still dealing with muted speculation, low fees, and cautious Smart Money behavior. But beneath that quieter surface, several core signals have improved. AVAX exchange outflows are significant, fresh wallet inflows have surged, sAVAX continues to show demand, BTC.b is seeing exchange outflows, and Avalanche L1 activity remains meaningful.

At first glance, that can look discouraging, but it is also not a clean distribution phase either. The better read is that Avalanche remains in consolidation, now with a stronger accumulation bias than the prior snapshot.

All onchain figures in this article are based on the Nansen AI and DeFiLlama snapshot provided for June 11, 2026 and should be read as a point-in-time analysis rather than a permanent state of the Avalanche ecosystem. The Network is Quieter

The current network data shows that Avalanche is not in a high-fee, high-speculation cycle. Chain fees remain very low, with 24-hour chain fees and revenue at $2,068. That tells us blockspace demand is not intense right now.

At the same time, the data points to a network that is very much alive and scaling. The latest snapshot shows 735,756 daily active addresses, 37 transactions per second, 14.1B all-time transactions, 81.6M contracts deployed, and 81 active Avalanche L1s.

DeFi activity is also still present, though not accelerating aggressively. Avalanche TVL is currently around $455.02M, with $1.412B in stablecoin market cap and $84.48M in 24h DEX volume.

The surface read is clear. This is not a network relying on noise. It is a network with a real activity base, steady usage, and infrastructure that continues to compound beneath the market’s attention.

USDC Flows are the Strongest Constructive Signal

Stablecoin behavior remains one of the most important areas to watch.

In the latest snapshot, USDC showed -$6.5M in exchange outflows over 24h and -$2.7M over 7d. Fresh wallets saw +$20.2M in USDC inflows over 24h, about 2.3x the average. Top PnL wallets also showed +$3.3M in USDC inflows over 7d, around 3.9x above average.

This does not automatically mean aggressive risk-on deployment. Stablecoins can move for many reasons: self-custody, DeFi positioning, treasury movement, bridge routing, market-making, or simply waiting onchain.

But it does show that stablecoin capital is not disappearing from Avalanche. It is still moving through the network. That matters because stablecoins are the dry powder of any ecosystem. If Avalanche is going to move from consolidation toward stronger activity, USDC behavior is one of the first places to watch.

sAVAX Remains One of the Strongest Internal Signals

Liquid staking continues to be one of the more resilient parts of the Avalanche ecosystem. The latest data shows sAVAX with a $175.6M market cap, 16,112 holders, and a healthy 1.26x ratio to AVAX. The 24h buy/sell data is especially strong: $100.1K buy volume versus $22.5K sell volume, a 4.4:1 buy dominance.

Over 7d, sAVAX also showed -$526.9K in exchange outflows, around 1.5x above average. Fresh wallets added +$412.3K, while Top PnL wallets added +$99.9K.

This is important because liquid staking tends to represent a more patient type of participation. Users are not necessarily chasing the highest-risk trades. They are keeping AVAX exposure productive.

BTC.b Remains Meaningful

BTC.b also remains an important part of Avalanche’s DeFi identity. The current snapshot shows BTC.b with a $163.4M market cap, 30,739 holders, $15.8M in 24h volume, and $1.1B in reported liquidity.

The 7D flow data is constructive at the exchange level. BTC.b showed -$4.8M in exchange outflows, around 1.9x above average. Fresh wallets also added +$631.5K.

There is still nuance. Top PnL wallets showed -$1.7M in BTC.b outflow over 7d, so this is not a purely bullish signal. But the broader picture suggests BTC liquidity is still moving through Avalanche rails and has not disappeared from the ecosystem.

That matters because BTC.b is not just another speculative token. It is part of Avalanche’s infrastructure story: Bitcoin liquidity moving through DeFi.

Consolidation with Accumulation Bias

What Is Youmio?

Youmio is a Layer 1 blockchain designed so that AI agents have identity, memory, economic presence, and verifiable histories that anyone can audit. Every agent on the network carries traceable history and privacy settings controlled entirely by the user. The Story Behind the Platform

The Youmio team originally entered the web3 space through a social simulation game, Today The Game. In early 2025, they shifted their focus to building foundational tools for AI agents and rebranded as Youmio.

$LIMBO, the ecosystem’s staking token named after Youmio’s first AI character, launched on Solana in March 2025, predating the chain itself. It was how the project built its early community while the Youmio chain was still in development. How Youmio Works

Unlike general-purpose blockchains, Youmio’s L1 is structured around agent behavior. Each agent has a wallet, modular skills, and an evolving metadata state. Every action leaves a cryptographic trail, and outputs can be optionally minted as verifiable proofs onchain, giving developers and users a clear, auditable record of what happened and who was responsible.

Luigi DeMeo of Ava Labs noted what makes this design distinct: “Youmio is thinking clearly about what agents actually need at the protocol level, enabling massive tokenization of AI agents on Avalanche. Instead of fitting agents into an old model, they’re creating the purpose-built foundation from the start.”

Youmio 2026 Updates: Mainnet Progress

The Youmio testnet ended in late 2025, with badge migrations to mainnet completed in early 2026. The Green Hoodie Digital Wearable SBT launched exclusively for testnet pioneers, granting access to Season 1, an invite-only phase for earning rewards through Mio interactions.

Season 1 concluded on April 20, 2026. As of May 2026, the platform remains invite-only, with new users able to request access through existing participants. The team has dropped hints of upcoming features and expansions.

How to Get Involved:

1) $LIMBO staking: $LIMBO is Youmio’s staking token, available on Avalanche. Staking durations run between 7 and 120 days, with longer locks generating higher daily Star yield.

2) Stars: Stars are earned through $LIMBO staking and measure your Affinity with your Mio, which determines how rewards flow to you as the platform matures.

3) Seed NFTs and SEED Points: Seed NFTs, available in Ancient, Mythic, and Synergy tiers, can be planted in the Youmio Garden to generate SEED Points and additional NFTs. SEED Points build your participation score and determine your share of future reward allocations.

4) Referrals: Each successful referral adds 5 to 10 percent to your participation score, compounding your rewards over time.

Gaming titles built on Avalanche generated over 100 million transactions in 2025 alone. MapleStory Universe drove the network to process 1 million daily transactions in its first week. Off The Grid became the first AAA blockchain game to ship on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The activity is real, and it is accelerating. What sits behind all of it is an architecture that most developers misunderstand before they start building.

What “Blockchain Gaming” Actually Means

The most common misconception is that a blockchain game runs on the blockchain. The game engine, physics, rendering, matchmaking, AI, and real-time session state all run on traditional infrastructure, the same way they always have. The blockchain serves as a settlement and ownership layer sitting underneath the game. It is a separate system that sits beneath your game server and handles what game servers were never designed to handle: permanent, verifiable ownership.

The clearest mental model: blockchain is your game’s permanent ledger of ownership and economy. The game engine is the experience. They are connected through event-driven architecture, and the engineering challenge is building that bridge well.

The game layer covers everything you already know: Unity or Unreal, your physics engine, rendering pipeline, matchmaking servers, AI systems, and player session state. None of that changes when you go Web3. The blockchain layer is where Avalanche lives: asset ownership recorded as NFTs, token balances, marketplace logic, smart contract-enforced crafting rules, verifiable randomness for loot drops, and tournament prize pools.

Why Avalanche for Games

Most transactions on Avalanche confirm in 1 to 2 seconds. Ethereum takes 12 to 15 seconds. That difference matters for games because players notice. A player who earns an item and sees it appear immediately has a fundamentally different experience from one staring at a loading state wondering if something broke.

The C-Chain is fully EVM-compatible. Solidity contracts deploy with zero changes. Hardhat, Foundry, MetaMask, OpenZeppelin, and WalletConnect all work without modification. The C-Chain processes over 4,500 transactions per second and the Octane upgrade in mid-2025 cut fees by over 95%, which changed what is economically viable for studios running game economies with millions of microtransactions.

The deeper differentiator is the L1 architecture. The ability to launch a sovereign blockchain with custom validators, a custom gas token, isolated workloads, and configurable EVM parameters is what has attracted the studios shipping serious games. C-Chain or Your Own L1: How to Choose

The economics of launching an L1 changed significantly with Avalanche9000 and ACP-77, which shipped to mainnet in December 2024. Previously, each L1 validator was required to stake 2,000 AVAX on the primary network. A 5-validator minimum meant an upfront capital commitment approaching $240,000 at 2024 prices. ACP-77 removed that requirement entirely, replacing it with a pay-as-you-go fee of roughly 1 to 10 AVAX per validator per month. The 99% reduction in deployment cost is real, and it makes dedicated game chains accessible to studios that could not justify the old model. The practical path: build on the C-Chain, get real players generating real transactions, and move to your own L1 when volume and economics justify it. Avalanche’s Interchain Messaging (ICM) infrastructure handles asset bridging between chains so the transition is invisible to players.

Studios that made the move to dedicated L1s:

• GUNZ (Off The Grid) by Gunzilla Games. A AAA battle royale on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The game client runs traditionally. GUNZ L1 handles weapons as NFTs, the GUN token economy, marketplace, and staking.

• MapleStory Universe L1 by Nexon. Player-owned guilds, tradeable progression items, transparent enhancement logs built onchain. Drove 1 million daily transactions in week one.

• FCHAIN by Faraway Games. Powers nine titles simultaneously. Assets and economy move across games in the same ecosystem.

What Goes Onchain and What Stays Off

Blockchain is built for settlement and permanent state changes. Real-time execution belongs on your traditional game servers.

The bridge between your game server and your contracts is event-driven. A game server event triggers a backend listener that calls the relevant contract function. With sub-second finality on Avalanche, that transaction resolves in 1 to 2 seconds rather than 12 to 15. Players see their items appear almost immediately.

Smart Contract Patterns That Matter Most

1. Vault and escrow: For any session where assets are at risk, dungeon runs, PvP wagers, high-stakes crafting. The player approves the vault contract, the game server triggers a deposit at session start, and the contract releases assets based on the verified outcome from a signed server message.

2. Merkle tree reward distribution: For large-scale reward events. The studio publishes one Merkle root to the contract instead of minting individually to thousands of players. Each player claims their reward by submitting a Merkle proof. One transaction sets the root; players cover their own claim gas.

3. ERC-2771 meta-transactions: The most important pattern for Web2 onboarding. Players sign transactions without paying gas. A studio-run relayer submits and covers the cost. On a dedicated L1 with a custom gas token, this becomes even simpler at the protocol level: players spend your game token and the relayer complexity goes away entirely.

The Tooling Stack

For smart contract development, Hardhat and Foundry both work without modification on the C-Chain. OpenZeppelin provides audited implementations of every standard you will need. The Hardhat config for Avalanche is identical to an Ethereum config with the RPC URL changed to https://api.avax.network/ext/bc/C/rpc and chainId set to 43114. Fuji testnet (chainId 43113) is the staging environment, with free test AVAX at faucet.avax.network.

For Avalanche-specific infrastructure, the Avalanche CLI handles local network setup, L1 deployment, and genesis configuration. AvaCloud provides a no-code alternative for studios that want a production L1 without a dedicated infrastructure engineer. The Core Wallet SDK covers Avalanche-native capabilities including P-Chain interactions and cross-chain asset visibility. Glacier API gives fast onchain data access without running a custom indexer, and The Graph handles custom subgraphs for leaderboards, trade history, and activity feeds.

For game engine integration, the Moralis Unity SDK connects Unity projects to Avalanche onchain data. ChainSafe’s web3.unity is a strong alternative for tighter engine integration. ethers.js handles EVM interaction in Node.js backends and web frontends.

For wallet UX, Privy and Dynamic both provide embedded wallet SDKs that generate wallets from email or social login. Players never see a seed phrase unless they choose to. This is the single biggest lever for Web2 player retention in any blockchain game.

Migrating from Web2 to Web3 on Avalanche

Migration happens in three phases and studios that try to do all three at once typically ship nothing.

Phase 1: Asset tokenization (4 to 8 weeks). Identify which items become onchain assets. Begin with cosmetics rather than gameplay-critical items so that a failed blockchain integration does not break core gameplay. Deploy an ERC-1155 contract, map internal item IDs to token IDs, add wallet connection alongside the existing login system, and build the minting pipeline from game server to contract.

Phase 2: Economy layer. Deploy an ERC-20 game token that replaces or supplements the existing currency system. Design the token economy, supply, emission rate, and sinks, before writing a single contract. A badly designed token economy will collapse regardless of contract quality. The main deliverables at this phase are the marketplace contract for player-to-player trading and a meta-transaction relayer so players do not need AVAX to transact.

Phase 3: Deep integration. Crafting and upgrade logic move to smart contracts with onchain outcome records. Competitive modes implement commit-reveal for verifiable match outcomes. Player-owned guilds exist as contracts with onchain treasuries. At this point the studio should also evaluate whether transaction volume justifies moving to a dedicated L1.

The four UX principles that determine whether Web2 players stay:

1. Abstract the wallet completely: Use embedded wallet tools like Privy or Dynamic so players log in with email or social accounts and never interact with key management directly. Call it an “inventory vault” or “digital ownership account” in your UI. Keep the word wallet out of it.

2. Sponsor gas for new players: Requiring AVAX ownership from a player who has never touched crypto is an immediate exit. Set up a meta-transaction relayer and cover their early transactions.

3. Use progressive disclosure: Show players they own their items. Let them discover trading when they are ready. The player who figures out they can sell a rare drop and receive real money will evangelize your game. The player hit with “connect your MetaMask to continue” on the loading screen closes the tab.

4. Fail gracefully: Queue failed transactions for retry and show neutral “syncing your inventory” states rather than raw blockchain errors. Most retries succeed and the player never knew anything happened.

Token Economics: Building an Economy That Survives

The 2021 to 2022 play-to-earn era established a useful negative example. When new player capital is the primary source of token value for existing players, token collapse follows slowing user growth, and the game collapses with it.

The dual token model:

The dual structure lets the in-game economy run independently of governance token price movements on secondary markets.

Token sinks to design in from day one:

• Crafting costs, burned on creation or upgrade

• Enhancement fees, burned regardless of success or failure

• Marketplace fees, a percentage burned or sent to treasury

• Season pass and premium content spending

• Guild creation and maintenance costs

• Tournament entry fees that partially burn

Gunzilla Games routes 30% of monthly Off The Grid revenue into GUN token buybacks from the open market, which are then burned. That creates a direct link between game revenue and token value.

The sequencing principle that separates sustainable games from failures: design the game to be worth playing for free first. Layer on ownership mechanics that reward long-term players second. That order matters.

Why games keep choosing Avalanche

The technical case comes down to a specific combination of properties that Avalanche has built deliberately for this use case. Sub-second finality means asset transactions confirm before players notice a delay. EVM compatibility means studios bring their existing Solidity knowledge, auditors, and tooling without relearning anything. The post-Octane fee reduction of over 95% on the C-Chain makes microtransaction-heavy game economies economically viable at scale.

The dedicated L1 architecture is the deepest advantage. A gaming studio can run a sovereign blockchain with its own validators, its own gas token, its own EVM configuration, and complete workload isolation. Peak game activity, including major NFT drops and large competitive events, cannot affect other applications and other applications cannot affect the game. Post-Avalanche9000, launching that L1 costs roughly 1 to 10 AVAX per validator per month rather than tens of thousands of AVAX upfront.

Interchain Messaging connects L1s to each other and to the C-Chain without external bridges, so multi-game ecosystems like FCHAIN can share assets and economy across titles on the same infrastructure.

What This Means for Builders

The infrastructure for serious game development on Avalanche is in place. Studios that start today have access to sub-second finality, a tooling stack that works without modification for any EVM developer, dedicated chain economics that are genuinely accessible, and a set of ecosystem programs designed to fund and support the build.

The developer opportunity is around studios that treat blockchain as infrastructure rather than product feature. The games winning in 2025 are marketed as games first. The blockchain is invisible to most of their players. Building that kind of invisible-infrastructure experience on Avalanche is where the real work is, and the tools to do it are here.

Q1 2026 Ecosystem Recap

What started as a collection of curious individuals rapidly evolved into a connected network of builders, developers, and founders across East Africa.

The question was never whether East Africa had the talent. The question was whether it had the infrastructure, the community, and the momentum to turn that talent into something lasting.

Showing Up Every Week

Consistency is underrated in community building. Anyone can host a one-off event and generate a spike of excitement. What is harder, and more valuable, is building a rhythm that people actually show up to week after week.

That is what the Team1 East Africa Community Call has become. Every Tuesday at 8:00 PM EAT, builders, developers, founders, designers, and Web2 professionals exploring their first steps into Web3 gather on Google Meet for a session that cuts through the noise and focuses on how to move from curiosity to capability.

These calls are spaces where real conversations happen, where someone who shipped a project last week shares what they learned, and where a first-time builder realizes they are not as far from launching as they thought.

Over this quarter, the sessions became a gateway to real opportunities within the Avalanche ecosystem, covering programs like Build Games and Retro9000, pointing builders toward Avalanche Academy for foundational learning, and connecting the community to the tools, documentation, and support systems they need to scale.

Inside the Universities

University ecosystems are uniquely positioned as launchpads for the next generation of builders.

At the Hult Prize UoN Bootcamp, students were introduced to the Avalanche ecosystem through a deeper, more practical lens, moving beyond surface-level blockchain awareness into structured pathways for contribution.

The session unpacked what Build Games on Avalanche represents for builders ready to compete at a continental level, focusing on where asymmetric opportunities exist, including grant pathways, and how to navigate the ecosystem without confusion or blind spots.

Students were guided through the Avalanche Academy courses, giving them a clear entry point into structured learning and highlighting the various technical and non-technical pathways available, from development and product building to community growth and ecosystem participation.

Rather than treating hackathons as isolated events, the session reframed them as entry points into a broader ecosystem strategy, covering infrastructure, capital allocation, and distribution channels.

Women Connect: A Different Kind of Activation

In late January, we began with a yoga session.

The Team1 Women Connect gathering in Lavington, Nairobi brought together women shaping the future of Web3 for a moment of intentional pause in an otherwise relentlessly fast-paced space.

By blending movement and mindfulness, the session created an environment where deeper conversations could happen naturally, away from the pressure of panels and pitch decks.

The Web3 space moves fast and burns people out. Building a sustainable ecosystem means investing in the people behind it, and sometimes that looks like creating space to breathe, connect, and remember why this work matters.

Build Games Uganda

February brought the movement north. Build Games Kampala, hosted at Makerere University, gathered nearly 60 builders, game developers, designers, and Web3 enthusiasts for a five-hour immersive session with one core objective: move from concept to product.

This was a hands-on builder experience where participants engaged directly with Avalanche’s infrastructure, including Subnets, and worked through the practical process of taking an idea toward something shippable.

Experienced builders shared real insights from their own journeys, and the energy in the room reflected what happens when curiosity meets structure.

By engaging directly with student innovators, Team1 tapped into one of East Africa’s strongest talent pipelines.

Team1 Rwanda

Since launching the Team1 Rwanda community with its first ecosystem event in February, the initiative has continued to experience steady growth and engagement. The inaugural event brought together over 60 participants, including developers, founders, and blockchain enthusiasts, marking the beginning of a growing local ecosystem.

Over the following months, the community expanded to more than 200 active members, supported by consistent monthly meetups that encouraged collaboration, knowledge sharing, and long-term community retention. To strengthen participation and accessibility, a structured onboarding pipeline was also developed through community channels and targeted ecosystem campaigns.

Beyond community growth, Team1 Rwanda has actively focused on ecosystem expansion through strategic partnerships and institutional engagement. Collaborations with three local tech hubs have helped increase developer visibility and outreach, while ongoing discussions with two universities are laying the groundwork for sustainable talent development and student involvement in blockchain innovation.

Build Games Kigali

Build Games Kigali, held at the Digital Transformation Center, brought Rwanda’s growing gaming and tech community into direct engagement with the Avalanche ecosystem.

The session emphasized practical execution, with builders exploring how Avalanche’s infrastructure, such as sub-second finality and custom L1s can power scalable, low-friction gaming experiences.

The Digital Center transformed into a high-energy collaboration hub, where participants formed meaningful connections and began laying the groundwork for long-term projects and partnerships.

In parallel, early-stage startups were supported through ecosystem onboarding and guidance on product development, ecosystem alignment, and global exposure opportunities.

12 startups were supported to participate in the Avalanche Builders Game (Stage 1), with 3 advancing to Stage 2, positioning them for deeper ecosystem support and potential funding.

SheBuilds Nairobi

On International Women’s Day, Nairobi hosted SheBuilds Nairobi at the Blockchain Centre, bringing together 200+ participants for a fully hands-on experience.

In just three hours, women from diverse backgrounds, students, early-stage developers, and Web3 newcomers, were guided through creating and publishing real onchain projects.

Every participant left having shipped something tangible, marking a powerful shift from curiosity to capability.

Participants explored AI-assisted development, LLM integrations, and Chainlink-powered applications on Avalanche, moving from idea to prototype in a highly collaborative environment.

Women in East Africa are not only embracing technology, but are also increasingly excited about building on Avalanche and exploring its potential.

With the right tools and environment, women are not waiting to be included in Web3, they are shaping its future.

Avalanche x Chainlink Women Builders Lab

To close the quarter, Kigali hosted the Avalanche x Chainlink Women Builders Lab, focused on connecting smart contracts to real-world data. The session brought together 80+ participants, marking a strong step toward inclusive ecosystem growth.

In partnership with Chainlink, builders explored how decentralized oracle networks power advanced use cases across DeFi, payments, and tokenized assets, moving beyond theory into practical, infrastructure-level understanding.

The initiative also launched a Female Builders program, onboarding 70+ women and creating a safe, empowering space to explore blockchain, innovation, and funding opportunities.

Beyond technical learning, the lab strengthened gender inclusion in a traditionally male-dominated space, reflecting a broader shift in East Africa from onboarding to developing skilled, confident builders ready to contribute at a global level.

There is a continued commitment to increasing female participation across all ecosystem programs, alongside plans to host larger, multi-ecosystem activities in Rwanda.

These efforts aim to further position Rwanda as a leading hub for blockchain innovation in Africa.

Build Games

Across the Build Games initiative this quarter, East Africa submitted 27 projects, signaling a clear shift toward execution. The region is no longer just consuming Web3 content; it is actively producing and contributing to it.

As more developers gain access to the right tools, communities, and support systems, output and innovation will continue to grow.

Q1 2026 demonstrated what becomes possible when capability, confidence, and ecosystem alignment come together.

Across dozens of sessions, the emphasis remained consistent: equipping builders, creating real opportunities, and fostering a culture of shipping.

The region is no longer waiting to be included in the global blockchain conversation, it is actively building, contributing, and creating solutions that are influencing the future of the ecosystem.
